What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

2" of fresh powder last night so more snow removal this morning before heading to town for meds. I have the flu or similar so not feeling great. I will say over and over how much I like this MX6000 and the snow clearing set up I have. I'm able to do a good job on the asphalt with the blower, and the gravel with the front blade.

I put quite a bit of work into the blower a month or so ago and it's a beast for sure. It was flinging large chunks of ice this morning, nasty, jagged chunks but it didn't miss a beat. The spring that I installed to hold the hoses works great, the spacers on the cylinder for the chute angle work great, and the repairs to the auger and baffle (for want of a better word) certainly don't hurt. I think that this SB1574 will be around for many years to come. I'll change the gearbox oil in the spring ready for next year.

The M6060 is plugged in so I might give the new to me hydraulic rear blade a spin to see how it does with removing the snow along the edge of the lower driveway. If I start to slide I'll have to drop the blade and hope that it serves as a decent anchor. The R1 tires are great for most things but not sure how they'll do on a thin layer of snow.

Did you have it in 4wd? 4wd helps with braking too, as the front wheels will brake too.
Also in 4wd you can keep a little more traction.

Chains are a huge help in Snow, Ice, Mud and Slime, you might really want to look into them for future use.

Yes I was in 4WD but remamber how my front tires look like? Not much thread left there.

I just picked up this for my diesel jug. I have a similar one for my gasoline jug and love it.

This is gonna make it easier to add fuel to the tractor, especially where Kubota likes to put their fuel tank.

Call me lazy...but why work harder? No splashing, no losing fuel. It cost money ya know.

@Rosohatica : Diamond-pattern chains, even without studs, should cause your tractor to stay grippy. They cost more, but less costly ladder-bar chains have non-chain areas that ride rougher and can slide when braking--pumping the brakes helps if the wheels rotate and catch, or you might have to go forward a little to rotate to a chain area (and sometimes only one wheel catches), experience helps. More ladders also helps but the cost goes up and at that point diamond pattern are only slightly more.

Studs will damage pavement and concrete, and dirt paths and everything else, but wow they grip. I have them on lighter equipment for use on hard ice.

That's what shear bolts are for. Hate it happened, but at least you didn't blow up your PTO.

No good deed goes unpunished they say.
We have more snow coming tomorrow so I thought I would push the piles back for me and the neighbors.
Plowed up a big rock I didn't see and backed over it. Punctured 1 of the hydraulic filters.
A quick trip to dealer and $226 later I am back in action.
Changed both filters since I was under there and added 4 gallons of fluid.
I have refused payment from all I have plowed out.

I feel guilty. Haven't used the tractor in two weeks. It's been single digit temps, no snow to plow. Besides installing lights on it and greasing it earlier this week, I went out to the garage today and touched it and said don't worry, you'll be put to work soon.

I too feel guilty, I am 5 hours overdue for the 200 hour oil change, and it has been so cold outside that it isn't going to get done anytime soon unless the temperatures rise enough that I can do it without getting frostbite.

Wood, as per usual. The sun was out yesterday (been a minute) so I took a break from work to move and stack some splits...

Low 20s (*F) so pretty easy to stay warm so long as I was moving; once the tractor was warm I ran it at a higher RPM than I would in warm weather. It's my first winter with a diesel, and I didn't know what to expect. Operation was flawless.

A co-worker brought me a light-duty 3pt 7' blade. I hooked that up and spent over an hour on the driveway and parking area. It helped a pretty good amount, It might just be on a long-term loan to me now!

Meanwhile in Alabama….

I think the general reaction is “Aw heeell naw!” Got about 3” accumulation meaning at least 6” probably fell. Temp is 31F right now and I felt sprinkling rain on my noggin when I went to feed and water the chickens, so it ain’t gonna last long unless it gets a lot colder. According to the Weather Channel, 97% chance of rain and 37F for the high today. It’ll be gone by lunch time.

The governor (we fondly call her MeeMaw) declared a state of emergency last night and rightly so considering we have nothing to handle it and only idiots think they can drive on the sheet of ice that usually comes down before the snow does. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like we got the usual ice this time. I still see a few brave (or stupid) souls on the nearby road. By the time I got out to the chicken pen and back, I heard no less than 3 go by intentionally spinning the tires and playing on a very dangerous morning. They forget that if there is a SOE in the state, their insurance can and will refuse coverage. I’ll just watch from the sidelines.

Get your wax out! You can do that in the shop, so the outside temp not important.
