Weather broke a little, so we took the new evaporator for a drive down the road and we are doing a cleansing boil before the season gets here…

I cant't remember the difference between the RTV520 and 500. I think the 520 has a CVT transmission? I have the 500 hydro tranny. Slow machine but one hell of a work horse and (knock on wood) super reliable.

Well didn't do much today. I had some brush and logs I needed to burn from work this summer I did (before I had the tractor) and decided to burn it today since there was snow, wasn't cold out, no wind....no permit needed.

I was a little scared using the tractor but I was extremely careful. I first let the brush burn to the point there was very little flame left in the middle of the fire. I decided to leave the plow on, there's no hydraulics on it so wasn't worried about it, plus it extends further than the bucket. I just wanted to push some of the brush and logs that didn't burn. I was able to safely push them all in before they all caught fire. So I'm happy about that!

Did some firewood today and played in the mud while I was doing it. Here is one of the logs I blocked up and split. It's 80" long.

Unplugged the battery maintainer from the BX24, hit the key, and it didn’t even try to turn over. Jumped it with the jump pack, pulled it outside and let it run for about 20 minutes. Backed it into the garage, shut it off and it wouldn’t turn over. The battery is at least 7-1/2 yrs old as it was in the tractor when I bought it in 2017. Battery shopping tomorrow.

Getting tired of replacing block heaters on my bx2370, bought a new one and rewired it to work at 200 watts instead of 400 watts.
Maybe I'll get more than two seasons out of it now.

I went to go move some brush today with the forks...it was clear too. Sun was coming out and just after getting the forks on it started to pour out of nowhere. It poured for 2 hours straight. Didn't even show anything on the rader. Everything turned into mud. fun fun fun. Sooooooo.....

I'm like yeah...it can wait.

How do you "rewire" it????

I'm with Kenny on this, how long are you running it?

I have probably 6 diesel engines with block heaters some 15 years old and I've yet to burn one out.

In regard to the block heaters, my dealer said that 45 minutes is long enough.
I would not want to burn mine out either.

It's all those big fires you started, causing the climate to warm. Looks like several inches of sunshine in the forecast, full sun here today.

Well it cleared up, sun came out for much much longer this time. Managed to move a ton of old brush I've collected over the years. Burned it all today. Still have some left to do tomorrow but won't take much. It will be nice not having to look at this ugly brush pile anymore. Might throw some wildflower seeds in it's place. 10+ years of old brush rotting and turning into mulch should make for some good soil.

I forgot to take my phone with me so no pictures. When I get focused on doing a job, I forget to document it sometimes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Using the forks to move brush is kinda tricky if I'm being honest. A grapple would be better in this scenario. The biggest issue that the brush was thrown in straight, not horizontal so I couldn't really get much. I just set the forks down and manually pulled the brush out one by one and piled it on the forks and moved it to the fire. This was good exercise anyways. Burned off some Christmas sweets. A project I been wanting to get done that was gonna take me 2 weeks to do it by hand...only took me like 2 hours. Tractors are definitely helpful haha

Anyways since it had rained and temps reached nearly mid 50s today...the ground really soften up so I kinda made some decent ruts in a few places at least I contained them near the edge of my mowing area. It's always wet in these places anyways...heck my little zero turn leaves ruts. These are just deeper lol. But I'd rather do it now and fix it in the spring before I mow because I knew it was gonna be messy.

So either way it was a good learning experience. Nice to use the tractor for some work rather plowing snow. I also had fun so that's good too 👍

Are you putting a timer on it or running it all the time?
I started out without a timer until the second one burnt out then installed a timer, on for twenty five minutes off for five and also installed an ammeter so I could see when it wasn't working.
Now I have reduced the wattage to half and removed the timer.
I want to leave it on for an hour , the timer might be stressing it popping in on and off.

How do you "rewire" it????
Install a bridge rectifier to cut the voltage in half by only using half the dc side , now it operates at 200 watts instead of 400.
I believe the space around the heater is too small for the 400 watt heater.

I've never had block heater problems until I bought this Kubota tractor, if you use a block heater on a bx you might want to test it if it has been in use for more than three seasons.
