Is it your experience that no one locks their hubs until they can't go any further? Spinning and kicking rock and destroying the road bed?

We engage 4wd all year, in and out. It keeps the juices flowing. It protects the road bed. But some people have to see how far they can go....
Last time a Chevy had "hubs" to lock in was like 40 years ago.

Beautiful pictures.

On the way home from supper last night the DW had broken tracks earlier in the day on the logging trail - on the way down heading out for her vacation. I followed the tracks which were basically firm slush. On the way home as I gained altitude and the stuff got deeper, of course I had it in 4WD. Toward the top and our cut off the wheels slipped a few times. It was only 4" of wet whiteness.

Where we live the roads are all private via easement. Logging trails and many switch backs and 30-40% grades. It's an understanding that a land owner maintains his part of the trail. I see the tracks in your photo showing the spinning tires. That really irks me. Is it your experience that no one locks their hubs until they can't go any further? Spinning and kicking rock and destroying the road bed?

No, no spinning tires. It was fresh snow and what I believe you are looking at is the small banks created by a plow that came through a week or so earlier after a larger snowfall. On the right side there are snowmobile tracks which are to the right of the bank on the unplowed road portion. It was a single lane plow job as they didn't do the whole road.

I'd love to see a moose or two. They're not overly common up here even though they're around. I see elk all the time and of course lots of deer.
Well, for Christmas I'll send you a couple moose if you send back a couple 6x6's! 😂 😂

There was a little stand-off at the feeder.

Our season ended with a nice sunset. I didn’t shoot this year. Anybody have a recipe for tag soup?

Oh my gosh - what a classic picture. The kitty in wait for a meal.

We have cougars. They kill livestock. They jump 6' fences and carry a pig out over the fence. We've had problem bears mashing steel cans and hauling pigs. But seeing that on a camera is amazing.

We have working dogs. A kitty could kill all of them in short order. But the kitty leaves for easier hunting ground. Why would a cat leave 2 or 3 working dogs when it could kill all of them? It's not worth the risk.

Because of my heavy knife addiction, I used to be a very active member on a fairly popular knife site.

It ended up shutting down a couple years ago because of the forum owner dying and all the older regular hands running all the new members off.

I was having to clear up some room on the ole cellular device and found a bunch of knife pics from years ago......and one happened to be tractor related.

Why don't you post your bloody dead animal photo in the hunting section? I used to hunt and have no to ax to grind with that but I didn't open this thread to see that.

Browsing this thread, I was surprised to see there are some fellow photographers on here. I was into photography for a long time, still am just not as much but been trying to get back into it. I mainly photographed all cars and such using film.

I'll share some here.

I'm over in England visiting my brother and his family for Christmas. The first photos are of the view from his house. He lives near Bodiam Castle built around 1300 and never under siege in more than 700 years. We had lunch at the The White Dog pub just past the village of Bodiam and I had a laugh at the all the workers that came in for a beer or two on their lunch break. Reminds me of my days working as a welder in England and spending a couple of hours at the pub for lunch every Friday. 😂 These guys work for a scaffolding company so they'd most likely be off the ground.
