If we can find the best size for the Tractor Toolbox I'll know where to look for it next time. Anybody have these ? BTW do the bigger Kubotas have a larger similar fuel filter?

I used my spanner wrench (adjustable) to wrench on motorcycle shocks. It's come in handy on many applications.

@Dustball : I've found several wrenches like your photo, but their smallest limit is 2-3/8 inches or more. The fuel filter outer ring is about 2-1/8 . Anyone seen a different smaller size?

"without squeezing it at only two points." is the main point. Strap wrench meets that I think..

That particular one goes down to 2-1/4" which is too big.

In posts #1 & #3 it sounds like low temperature is part of the problem, perhaps a hair dryer can safely warm it till it turns easier.

My neighbor is an 80 year old gear head with 2 restored cars form the 50's and one hot rod from the 60s.

I was having an impossible time getting an oil filter off my motorcycle. The wrench was slipping, and the filter wasn't exposed enough to get plyers on it. I asked his opinion on how to remove it.
He suggested taking a screw type hose clamp, tightening it up around the filter so it wouldn't slip then gently tapping the adjustment screw with something to force the filter to turn.

Worked like a charm.

Heloise hint. Since an oring seals it, there is no need to make it tight, just snug. Screw on until resistance is felt and about 1/4 more turn is all it needs. You don't want to crush the oring. Being rubber, it will not vibrate loose. Over tightened, not only makes it very hard to remove but may necessitate replacement of the oring if deformed.

Next time you go by a Kubota dealer, stop in and see if they have a special tool. When I use a channel lock on items like that I’ll put a rag or old strap, etc, between the pliers and part to reduce/eliminate putting plier marks on the part.
