The mighty burr oak located in Richmond heights Missouri. It measures 17.5 feet around at 4 feet off the ground. Is on a customer of mines property. It is a massive tree. (I copied this off of the internet)
You win.I've got a Water Oak on my Property (front yard) that is 18' in circumference.
But a mere 'toothpick' compared to some of the Old Growth trees felled in the PNW years ago.
Imagine getting your saw pinched by that tree....Kind of curious how long it took to make that cut with a two man crosscut saw.

That equates to 3 days-week in today's times.One day's honest labour ?
I imagine if you started about July......you'd be done by Christmas.Kind of curious how long it took to make that cut with a two man crosscut saw.
No no no. He’d hook each of his M’s to one side of the saw and drive forward a bit, dismount, remount other tractor and do the same. Over and over. M’s are far superior, didn’t you know?flip could fell it with one swing of his ax
I must respectfully disagree. If I started July 1 I would be done by July 2 at the latest. The tree would have a minor flesh wound but I would be done.I imagine if you started about July......you'd be done by Christmas.

Agreed. Just enough to carve my name in it. But I'd be ready to quit by then anyway. That will get thru the bark on some of the lumps.
