Because of the recent cold snap. There are so many bees that they are consuming more water than the chickens. There were thousands drowned in the water troughs for the cattle.

Thousands of bees have drowned, I threw sticks in the water troughs to help the bees escape.

I didn’t realize bees went S for the winter. If so, thank you for taking care of “our” bees. I have some really large cottonwood trees along my creek bottom that have hallow places that the bees utilize. I see & hear the bees thru the warm months, but hadn’t given a thought to what they do for the winter. I have lots of bumble bees (ground nesting, I believe) & figured they hibernated in the ground.

I didn't think they traveled either, but when the cold snap hit, there is a ton more than normal in the area.

Hogs came up to and near the house last night and were eating up the acorns underneath the oaks. Neighbor said he spotted 40+ running across his pasture. View attachment 115106

I made a DIY video for making hog lights, using solar led motion lights. Far much cheaper than buying hog lights.

Ok, back on track fiddle fartin around on the farm....

I shot 2 smaller hogs last night. It appears I have 2 different sounders and 1 solo 200lb+ boar in the area.
I got a couple friends coming in this wknd to hunt, hopefully we can put a temporary dent in the population. I have very minimal damage in a couple spots to the 5 acres I just planted with the Trical 813 and to the 2 acres of food plots.

Prayin for some decent rain later this week. 3 more hot days until front comes. Heavy sea fog last few mornings is probably the only tiniest bit of moisture keeping the seedlings alive.

For some reason, the honey bees will not leave the chickens water jugs alone. This is becoming a problem, because the bees are actually consuming more water than the chickens. I scrubbed and cleaned the jugs early this morning before the bees became to active. I also filled 4 mineral tubs behind the tool shed(wind break) and added wood pieces in the water for the bee landings. The chicken coop is built on a trailer, I may end up moving it one of these evenings(after sunset). I normally fill the chickens water about every 9 or 10th day. Now it's every 4 days.

The bees also favor the black poly water trough in the corral, but that automatically fills with a float valve.
