The small plot of Trical 813 that I planted Oct 2. has already germinated and looking good. Gonna plant probably 5 more acres of this.

I was preparing a few acres for seed planting, saw a small piece of glass.
Got off the tractor to retrieve, but spent about 7Min digging out this bottle in some clayish soil.

I’m guessing you are a TCU fan😜.
It is good to see some green in your fields. I hope you can get some more rain to keep it going.

There use to be (burned down 50+ years ago) a house next door to us. All that remains is the concrete root cellar and footings. Over the years we've been here, I pretty much have taken it over, cleaning, clearing, planting grass and trees. Down below is a nice creek about 10ft wide. I pretty much turned it into a park. I've found many a old bottles buried, toys, burn piles and the like, all cleaned and mowed. I enjoy a hunt for bit of the past.

Yesterday and today, I moved a total of 4 baby Horned Lizards out of area I'm preparing to plant seed.

Everything is still green, hopefully it will stay like that when temps hit back in the mid to upper 90's starting tomorrow. More rain expected next week, hurricane Norma is headed for Mexico.

Spent 8 or 9 hours yesterday in the skidsteer, consolidating old burn piles. Spent 7 to 8 hours on the tractor today, leveling out old burn pile areas and broke ground on 4+ more acres to plant. I ran out trical 813 seed today, I have one more acre to plant. Gonna make two half acre food plots tomorrow as well.

Found a few more small bottles and glass pieces today. I bought this place 3 years ago, people have lived on this place for over 100 years. The old homestead is a mound of ruble/mixed trash. Ive been finding the glass/trash 100 to 150yrds away from the mound.
I try and pick up anything that is trash related, I dont want the cows to eat it and get hardware disease. We have found some cool bottles, dont need anymore, we have 2 tubs full and my Laundry Fairy probably has put 50+ bottles inside the house.

I cleaned up a LOT of trash and rubble when going about things. A good part of a 40ft sidehill was a toss-all burn area. It was disgusting. The previous owners of our place also fed that mess with piles of baby diapers. THAT in itself was really bad and a chore to deal with. I picked up three 48"Wx72"Lx12"H trailer loads full. Each week I topped of our trash can with what was not recyclable.

I planted grass when I was done. It looks SO MUCH BETTER now.

You are at the S end of a line of showers stretching into Canada. I got some rain out of it Tuesday & Wednesday. I’ll find out how much tomorrow, when I make a trip to my farm (1 hour away). I hope I come back with a very muddy truck😁.

We've received a bit over 4" since this last front came through in the last two days. Before that we were 72 days without moisture. Still no runoff. We had cracks in the soil an inch wide all over the place. Clay drys up and shrinks leaving the cracks!!

Has the moisture benefited the Bermuda grass already coming up?

I had some moisture that really helped my food plots. Hard to believe how much the fields have grown since last Thursday …… & just in time for the hard freeze. Should get down to the mid 20s for the next couple days. Wheat & winter peas will survive, turnips & others, will not. That’s farming. 🥺

I probably got 70% germination rate, some of the flat areas look better than the areas with hills. It definitely needed more rain last month, and earlier this month. After this cold snap, we will be back in the mid 80's by Saturday. It should continue to grow till mid(70's) to late(60's) December, as long we don't get a freeze.

A few random pics of the Bermuda, definitely need more rain, we're almost 9in below year avg total to date.
