It was hay day for the cows, noticed they had a bit too many flies on them, so I hung a duster bag in the squeeze chute. I placed thier hay in the corral area and the other gates are shut, so if they want to come and go, they must use the squeeze chute. I will probably treat them with a pour on treatment and dewormer later in the week.

I’m not trying to make a living at this, as you may, but like to see my seed grow (& money not wasted).
Deer will be dang disappointed as well.

What seeds are you planting? I have about/atleast 6 weeks before I can put in Fall food plots. Supposed to remain above avg temps till mid November down here.

Austrian winter peas & winter wheat because they stay green & grow anytime the temp is above 32 degrees. I don’t have ag fields within 5 miles of my place. I will have the only “greens” in the area, all winter long (if I can get a little rain or snow now & then). I usually put starter fertilizer down for the increased P & kick it with some extra N. It has been working great since “05, when I can get some moisture. Last fall was a really slow start (lack of rain) & not much carryover into winter.
Spring crop is soybeans. This last crop was miserable (again, lack of rain). Stress from lack of moisture & heavy pressure from deer & turkeys pretty much killed everything.
Prob should my head examined because I made my fields a little bigger. I now have about 8 acres total, divided between 3 fields. I’m trying to get the crops to last until Spring. It will all depend on Mother Nature.

Mine is a 14K rated, 21ft deck, 4ft fixed. 17ft on the tilt. I bought it before I bought the farm and a farm truck, or I would have bought a 23 or 24ft in length plus it would have been a gooseneck instead of bumper pull. The skidsteer(10k lb) plus attachments does great on it. A tractor with with attachments/implements can be too long. Weight is not a concern, even when I had the cab M7060, length became an issue depending how the tractor was configured.

A friend of mine is handicapped, he had a hydraulic piston lift installed with remote control installed on his.

I hate messing with heavy trailer ramps, and always loved the tilt deck trailers.

Back on our Dairy we had a Holstein that had healthy (but small) twins every time she freshened but once. We almost lost her with that single. Huge bull calf if I recall.

Her name was Hamburger……

No rain in the last couple of days, hopefully later today we can get in on some of that moisture that is falling in other ares.

I planted 8 to 9 acres in grass seed on Thursday and Friday morning and then the my rain chances diminished quite quickly by Friday afternoon. Probably $600 in seed wasted. Just prayin for rain!

I also went down the road with one of my trailers, I pitched forked the remaining hay from someones lost hay load a couple of weeks ago. The Laundry Fairy and I grabbed the remaining portion of the round bales the week before. I just got the last bit of rements the tractor missed. Took me less than an hour, but this will feed the cows for about 4 days. I have plenty of round bales, but I'm that person who picks up coins/pennies in the parking lot. So with a little bit of exercise I loaded about $40 to $50 worth of hay in my trailer for free. I like free.

Spoke with the seed supplier yesterday, I gonna attempt to plant 10 other acres with Trical 813, probably late October/early November.

$27 per 50lb bags, recommended 70lbs per acre, but with the drought, I'm gonna plant ~ 50lbs per acre.
