On my smaller Hustler ZTR, it has "non serviceable" hydro motors because it's a residential model and the motors do not have drain plugs. You would have to split the motors or just use 100cc syringe and tubing to pull as much of the old oil out. It was not gear oil, so I used 15W-50 what my Gravely ZTR uses in its hydros. I measured what I pulled out and added about 30cc more back in. They do have overflow/vents on them.

I always try to look for a “Silver Lining” in a bad situation. Sometimes it’s there, but not always. In this case, your chance of rain is increasing. 🥺
Hurricane center just reported!! a slight chance of a tropical distrubance to form in the gulf over next few days.

The tragic fire in Maui has helped my argument with convincing the Laundry Fairy, for us to build the metal...barndominium.

Although, I'm not in any hurry to rush into this build. One of our farm neighbors, they are going through a divorce, plan A is to buy adjacent 18ac farm with a nice house on it already. Plan B, build barndominium, can't do both.

More acreage (especially contingent ground) is always good, I believe. If the house is nice enough to please your mate, sounds like a win.

Clouds have been increasing since yesterday evening. Little bit of sea fog this morning, moisture is expecting to start around 2am tomorrow morning. I'm gonna move/switch attachments around today on the tractors in hoping I can get some ground turned up tomorrow or Wednesday.

Harold, bring us some rain, make us proud.

I can smell the rain, but not a drop yet.
The cows are acting goofy, so I guess they feel the pressure change.

UPDATE;
@930am we had a 5min very light shower, not enough to wet the entire ground surface.

Runoff from the roof.

Jeeze, we really missed some big rain bands, last time I checked it was only 6/10ths, I'll take what ever the good Lord will squeeze out of the sky.

The ground has soaked up every bit of it, absolutely zero run off.

I will check later to see if the termites eating what ever decent grass is left if it it was enough to wash out the tunnels and them.

"Ants outnumber humans at least 2.5 million to 1. Ant biomass is around 20 percent of human biomass, or the mass of carbon from the nearly 8 billion humans now living on Earth. The ant biomass also weighs around 12 megatons, which is about the equivalent of two Pyramids of Giza on a scale." https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/22/... outnumber humans at least,of Giza on a scale.

.75in was the total, about 3 miles West of me, that ranch recorded 3.1in of rain.
Well, three quarters is better than no quarters. But, THREE inches might even make some run-off. Wow!
I’ve been checking the terraces above my ponds to make sure any rain that may move beyond where it hits the ground, goes where it can do the most good.
My renter was moving round bales off the brome today. 61 bales total. About 15% of what that field can produce (& we fertilized). 😢 Ok, enough whining!

I'm in Miami county and we have a lot of clay. When it's this dry the ground cracks and the openings just keep getting wider and wider. If you accidentally dropped your keys into one of them it would require a backhoe to find them. It would take 3-4" to get any run off.
