The feds have no business telling the states what to do in this case.
Sure, they can't tell states what to legalize, but they have the authority on guns. So as long as the purchasing form is federal, marijuana prevents you from buying guns.

Frankly, I think it's time to eliminate that from the 4473 and make pot legal in all 50 states. As it is, you can get secondary smoke or edibles in a pot legal state and potentially lose your job based on a drug test. I think that's pretty bad.

Nope, I don't do pot in any form. An ideal trade would be to make it legal to carry in every state if you can legally carry in your home state in exchange for pot being legal in every state ... I can dream.

Kinda sorta but not really. Feral government rules only apply to a part of a firearm (receiver) purchased through a FFL dealer. Private sales don't have to comply with the Mary Jane or age restrictions. For example, in my home state you can purchase a handgun if you are over 18 through a private sale. Also, you can buy every part of any firearm except the receiver through a FFL.
Keep dreaming the dream brother! The less they do in Washington, the better off we all are!

Yes, really if you are talking about using the federal form. Of course, there are states with exceptions to going through an FFL. I agree with that.
You said:
Sure, they can't tell states what to legalize, but they have the authority on guns.
So... no, they don't. Now, you say:
if you are talking about using the federal form.
That is totally different.
The Feral Government only has authority over those that wish to be a FFL (and those that must be due to their own circumstance). Under the 10th Amendment, they cannot regulate firearm sales within a state. They can, however, make it painful for a state to differ in practice from their bidding.
Look, I'm 100% for states being independent from the Feral stranglehold. Thing is, until they can come up with a way to correlate a level of intoxication from the weed to incapacitation like they do with alcohol, I'm fine with it being illegal on a Feral level.
Maybe we are splitting hairs here. But whatever.

Have two uncles left. Both potheads. I don't associate much with them, their life revolves around mary-jane. Legal or not, they gotta have it. They have no money for much anything else but alcohol and cigarettes. They both make $50k, or thereabouts. Both of them have lung problems. Big problems. Ed is on his last leg, karl is ok but not great. Sister, or half sister, also likes the stuff. Ruined her too. Her goal in life: work a few hours, go home, smoke dope, eat, rest, do it again, fall asleep, wake up (hopefully) next morning and repeat. Worthless human being, who contributes nothing to society. Got a neighbor who is using legal (Rx), always looking over her shoulder. There are so many problems with "it" that she kinda has to. She ain't really paranoid, but it's always in the back of her mind. She talks about it too often. Job related too. Old coworker, found out there's money to be made in the "trade", got nailed at work (not long after I quit), the kubota dealer, and of course they also found other "stuff" as well. Guns, money, etc. so they got him with intent to deliver, among many other things. He walks free.

GF and I were talking about this earlier. She said (talking about her) what would you do if I (she) passed away. I said it'd be a long time before I ever considered dating anyone else, if ever. Issue #1 is that it's close to impossible to find a lady that doesn't drink, smoke, do any drugs, and can put up with a working person without being a gold digger. It really is a lot harder to date with just those criteria alone.

had an old girlfriend who loved her weed, said she had to use it to "relax". There's other ways to relax but she didn't know of any other way since her daddy and momma never taught her nothing (also worthless). Yeah I got out of that deal quick. Sure the adult relations were good, but everything else not so much.

Good friend works for the police, well FBI as of last month. I hear all kinds of stuff. People think they can get away with it but the law usually knows who's using what and when/where it comes from. They assign priority levels for certain offenders. Once you are buying legally (or prescribed) you're on a list whether you like it or not. Remember, it's illegal federally. I asked him what list I'm on and he said "we know more than you think we do" and that's the extent of it. I told him that's one reason I don't trust the government. Response? "I don't blame you".

On the other side of the coin I have known folks who smoked weed and were fully functional good honest hard working tax paying successful people, Business owners , a lawyer or two and maybe even some in law enforcement. To some it may actually motivates them. I guess its like most things...Moderation! Its not weed that makes a person bad thats a bad person that starts smoking weed! The smartest kid in my high school would roll into the parking lot in the am smoking a big fatty! LOL!

Lugbolt were you ever in the movie business? Produce the film Reefer Madness? LMAO!

The scare mongers come out in force wherever pot is proffered for legalization. Are there some that 'smoke all day'? LOL, of course. Are there some that drink all day? Probably a whole lot more.

In my day it was "the step drug" threat. If you smoked then of course you would naturally be doing coke, then heroin.

In school, I smoked with a lot of other engineers all of which went on to very successful carreers / lives. No one became a drug addict.

I get it, not everyone wants to use pot. That's ok but for a forum loaded with peeps staunchly in favor of personal freedoms some of the responses to this subject are pretty funny.

I agree. Some folks even think a kid is responsible enough to vote at 16, but not buy beer or own a firearm until 18 or even 21.
In many states, if a kid of 15 or 16 commits a murder, the state will prosecute him/her as an adult. Depending on how heinous the crime is, they might even go as low as 13 or 14.

There are some on this forum that have the maturity and life experiences to know that the potheads often become dependents on society. With their waste of time, money and health they need to stay off any kind of medical and monetary support that responsible freedom loving people provide.

I'm positive the FBI has a file on me at the ready 🤫🤫🤫

It rears it's head when I renew my CCW permit.

Background checks come back for them in 4 to 8 weeks depending on any issues.

Mines done and I have my new permit in about 6 days 😎😎😎😎 So 3 days to process the CCW permit and get it in the mail. Which the instructor said was unheard of for his classes.

This has been my experience both times I've gone through the CCW class.

My thought is it's because I already have multiple background checks done each year because of work. I'm in and out of the Nuke plant, PB Armory, and well as other high security installations, like the federal prisons.

Apparently they and you have an insight that I have never acquired. Thanks for the information.

And then there are some of us with maturity and a lifetime of experiences to know to avoid people with such attitudes.
My dependency on the government is what I earned and paid into with a long career and taxes paid. The ss check is far less than my investment income.
I am sure the feds have a file on me somewhere. Part of it clearance related and a large part from protesting what others turned a blind eye to.
Sounds like your 'freedom loving people' only wish to help people that meet their requirements. So sad.

My subject was potheads, if you receive benefits from doing dope only then am I talking about you. Sad that you didn’t comprehend that. And yes, I don’t want to help anyone that brought misery to themselves.
