The 'Military' has made many a 'boy' into a 'man', but I don't think the 'draft' (how they got there) had much to do with it.

However....I won't argue your second point (Gender Identity). THAT certainly seems pretty screwed up these days (among other things). It was pretty cut and dried when I was growing up.

It most certainly did make this "boy into a man".

I was a 3rd year college student (civil engineering) and wanted to quit.
If I had quit, I most certainly would have been drafted.

Met a Navy recruiter at the student union one day,..... and my life was shaped forever.
Spent 5+ years as a Naval Aviator.
A decision made with the threat of the draft,....... and without a doubt, the best decision I ever made!

I buy it by the gallon from HEB, the chickens only need 1 table spoon per gallon of water, so it lasts me a long time.

It appears the cows are getting treats and completely crashing out to sleep nearby their RV.

I think, I know I got overheated yesterday. Think I'm gonna have to build my heat tolerance back up after spending 9 days up in New England's area. The last few days there the high temps were in the low 60's.

Haha the heat index has the potential to only reach 114* today.

The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day:
On January 1, 1942, forty Amarillo businessmen rode their horses to work and tied them to parking meters on Polk Street. Several of the men were given tickets for refusing to insert the required five cents. Rationing of tires had been announced on December 27, 1941 and was set to begin on January 5th, 1942 and these men were protesting that. Cretney's Drug Store, shown on the far left, was on the southwest corner of Polk and 6th. Sadly, almost all of these buildings are gone, but the tallest one, the one in which Cretney's is located, still stands.

I put out a fresh bag of minerals and salt. Bought a digital timer for a garden hose, gonna put a second hose on the water trough tomorrow, will set a 20min run time at 5pm. I think rhe cows will intake more water if it's not 90 plus degrees. I put fan on a timer with the chickens, they were a little freaked out at first.

Heat index hit 117* today, expected to be a tad warmer next couple days.

I was wondering the same when he was talking about collecting calves from multiple herds.

Always a challenge when too hot or cold, too dry or wet…. Combinations thereof compound things even more.

Just 7 this year, drought still got me scared from last year. I had 13 plus 8 calves last year, all went to auction last May.

Installed water timer on the water trough, I put a 20min run time at 5pm.
This will cause it to overflow the water trough. I'm hoping it will help circulate the exising water to making it much cooler for the cows to drink.

I will be helping a neighbor occasionally over the next few weeks with a wild herd on one their leases. There is est. 50 cows, 30 calves and 2 bulls. All will be going to auction except 1 of the bulls.
