Mowed and weed trimmed the RV site and moved our camper out. My parents will be visiting soon with their RV.
I also added a bird feeder near the sage bushes and put a hay ring around it to keep the cows from dumping the feeder out.

Well manicured site. A little shade under that Live Oak. A picnic table and a grill. What more could a man want. (y)

Oh....I just remembered.

A man gathers prickly pears to feed to cattle during a drought in South Texas, 1939. I've seen ranchers do this on many occasions. They burn the cactus spines off before feeding them to cattle, of course. Good Lord what a sensational image
Another sensational photo by Luis Marden for National Geographic.

I have to put cows up when burning, cause the dumb asses will look for Cactus that was in the burn piles even when its still smoldering. Just about all my burn piles have Cactus in them.

So 99% of farmers are NOT vets ! Kind of shocked to hear that number is so low. But then again the draft ended a long log time ago.
Last draft call lottery drawing was done on March 12th 1975.

It would be really interesting to know what percent of Veterans like myself, who didn't even inherit any land/farm or money and bought their own place.
I'm guessing it would be a very small fraction of that 1% percent.

Yep. As I remember.....

1973

My first year of college. I had to register for the draft....but the Vietnam War was winding down anyway. I was eligible for Student Deferment and a knee injury would have kept me out of the military. But the 'draft' was something many 18-25 yr. olds weren't fond of.

Some thoughts if you raise cattle. There are several videos on the subject. Be sure to read the comments if interested in how/why.

The draft made boys into men.
Now ,....boys cannot even decide if they are boys, or girls!

The 'Military' has made many a 'boy' into a 'man', but I don't think the 'draft' (how they got there) had much to do with it.

However....I won't argue your second point (Gender Identity). THAT certainly seems pretty screwed up these days (among other things). It was pretty cut and dried when I was growing up.
