2020 L3301 Manual Trans, Clutch worn out with 200 hours

My 3301 did not have any torque, I took it down to my local Kubota Dealer and they diagnosed that the clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing need to be replaced for $3600.00. My 'New" Warranty expired after 24 months, or 3 months ago. The clutch was adjusted at 100 hours and was not making any noise. Is this normal? I have KTC Insurance and thought this would have been a covered repair. Any suggestions are APPRECIATED!

Sadly clutch wear is not covered by any warranty as it a wear part.

Wow, is it normal for a $3,600 bill every 2 years? I guess they don't build clutches like they used to.

No it's not normal, it's usually a sign of a mal adjusted clutch or miss operation of use.
There are a few instances of them just failing, it happens it's mechanical.

Normal for clutch to not be covered by warranty, yes unless a manufacturing defect can be determined…

Normal for it to be wore out with so low of hours, no. I have basically the same tractor (just the previous series) with around 450 hours and clutch has never been adjusted or anything

Is it a wet hydraulic clutch in the L3301 or a simple dry mechanical clutch? I'm under the impression that wet clutches are less likely to wear out from "riding" the clutch, and hydraulic clutches like the one in my M6060 are even more reliable.

Many years ago my wife and I bought a new VW Jetta Wolfsburg edition and it had clutch problems within a few hundred miles. The VW dealership all but accused my wife of not knowing how to drive a manual which didn't sit well with the honey badger! Turned out on tear down that the clutch disk was defective.

Thanks. I can see that riding the clutch in order to get better control when doing work, the the clutch slipping under load, or riding the clutch backing up to an implement could be problematic. Not saying that this is the reason why the OP's clutch failed, but it's something to be aware of.

Am I right to think that the wet clutches are more durable or is that a myth?

This is one reason loader work in a manual is not the best, too much slipping the clutch.
And yes a wet clutch / hydraulic clutch (they are the same) are much more durable than a simple dry clutch.

I can see that riding the clutch...That's big no no! Get in gear and go. I had a 12 speed years ago with over 2,000 Hours on it when I sold it. Never needed a clutch and shift great.
Like they say that a clutch isn't covered. Like tires and battery! See if Kubota will cover some the cost as good will? Good luck...
