Yeah, when I started this thread I thought maybe 3 or 4 would suffice to meet demand. Ooops. Missed that one, didn't I? <lol>

I have 6 more milled to size with the face drilled and tapped. Just need to drill and tap the side and ends. I picked up more o-rings and the plugs I ordered arrived yesterday so I should have things ready within the week. Maybe that will be enough to handle demand for a while by those who find their way here in the future.

Out of curiosity, how many have you made so far?

Me? 2 in previous years, then 5 more since I started this thread plus the 6 I'm working on right now.

Over to you, Dan....

Half a dozen. Frankly it would be considerably easier and faster to make them with a single set of ports - top, side, end, or any combination thereof. The universal six port idea isn't really a better mouse trap - just more work. I have an industrial mill with digital readouts but tool and work holding changes still add up quick

True. I have a DRO as well, which does speed things after the points are set up initially and stored in memory. I have the points stored as relative to one corner of the milling vise, so I just have to index the vise setup once between runs. It's a bit of a toss-up whether it is faster to drill all holes, changing tooling each time or crank the wheels between stored data points between tool changes. But it definitely takes time to rotate the blocks then drill and tap the extra holes.

More options for an end-user who is rolling his own hydraulics though. The universal design means I can make a bunch then stick them in a box until required. And hey, it's a hobby, not a business. ;)

Interest thus far:
gottabeorange - 2
Russel King - 1
Vigo - 1 (?)
ffhasselhoff - 1

Potential market thus far: 5. All in the US.
I'd like to put my order in for one of these blocks for an L295DT. I joined this site a while ago because the information people share here is wonderful, but this is my first time posting. I too want to tap into my hydraulic system so I can add remotes or a spool valve. My understanding from having read the previous posts is that the L295DT diverter block is the same as the L185. Please let me know if you can make me one. Thanks.

I should have 6 more ready shortly. I think Dan has some ready now. Mine are 3/8" NPT outlets, Dan's are ORB -06. Dan's shipping costs within the US are cheaper than mine to the US. Pick your poison, send a PM to your chosen vendor.

Oh he started young alright. At 3, he wanted to push the button. At 4, he'd graduated to squirting the cutting oil with the oil can (God I went through a lot of oil that year!) By 5 he knew his numbers and set the spindle speeds. 6 saw him sharpening old nails on the bench grinder. Over the next few years he diversified into bandsaw, drill press and bench sander. The current challenge is to see how far he can tap the pipe threads -- his record is 9mm deep in the aluminium before the taper gets the better of him and I have to take over.

Now, who wants the one made by the apprentice? :D

I know whatvyou mean lol. Have a 5 and 3 yo. My boy (3yo) could change a tire by himself if he had the strength to do it. I break the lugs loose and he spins them off, then tries to take the tire off. Funny to watch him. My daughter is all about operating the equipment, even if she can't quite reach the pedals.
Hearing stories like yours and seeing how my kids act give me hope for the future. We're not doomed! Lol.

You are coming up on some wonderful times -- the time when you no longer have to do everything for them and can start doing things with them. Less of a mysterious god-like figure and more of a companion and mentor.

Until they hit high school. Suddenly you won't know anything. When those dark times hit, take heart in knowing you will become smarter again once they hit 18 or 20.

Back to the subject at hand, I have 6 drilled, tapped, cleaned, polished and ready to go. As before, they come with 4 plugs for unused ports and 2 new o-rings.

I will probably not have time to make any more until after the summer.

HI,
I realise this is an older thread but I wanted to check if you were making these Torch. I am in the UK and can't find anything available here.
Thanks Warren
Yes, I have a few left. Contact me by PM and we'll sort out shipping and payment details.

Thanks for the block Torch - it looks good.

I didn’t realize there would be extra ports - now I have to figure out all the extra things I can add with them.

I want to be able to take the valve and hoses off when the loader is off - any suggestions for how to do that? I was thinking of using quick connects on the block and using a short hose with matching connections to bypass when the loader and are valve is off.

I was also wondering could plumb in some sort of diverter valve so in just have to plug in the loader hoses and turn the valve, and just stitch the valve back to divert to the 3 point when the loader is off.
Thanks for the help.

You can only use one set of ports and you don't need an extra loopback hose.

The easiest and cheapest way to remove the loader is some quick connects. Put a male tip on the return port on the block and a male tip on the pump port on the loader valve. When the loader is removed disconnect the female supply at the loader valve and the female on the block end of the return hose. Then reconnect the female supply hose to the male tip on the return port on the block.

A diverter valve and hoses is going to cost you a couple hundred dollars.

As Dan said, you can't really add extra circuits at the block. The Kubota "Open Center" type hydraulic system connects additional implements in series. The multitude of ports is only intended to ensure the block is compatible with a wide range of models and provide options for hose routing.

Use one port from the left side and one from the right. If you want, you could connect a pressure gauge to a third. Plug the others.
