It is a difficult stretch to unify all Native Americans as one people.
BINGO! Native Americans warred amongst themselves over land and utter genocide was commonplace in their conquests. Cancel Culture doesn't teach that now, though, and hasn't for a very long time. Glad someone else besides me learned that too. The evidence of those wars is still there, as part of the different cultures of the different nations and tribes.
Likewise, Ukranians were Ukranians BEFORE they were "Russians" under the hammer and scythe of the USSR. They were conquered and occupied by Russia after WWII, basically on their way back home, as were most of the Easter Bloc countries. Russia was one of our bestest buddies in WWII, by making the Germans look over their shoulders as we and western Europe were hammering their front door. Ol' Adolf didn't think far enough ahead about the difficulties of fighting a sustained war against people protecting their homes through a hard winter. The difference is, once the Germans were beat and the world could breathe again, the Russians weren't going home empty handed after losing so many soldiers in the war. But, 60 years down the road, and the USSR comes apart at the seams simply because it wasn't a sustainable way to operate such an enormous empire. And the very person that agreed to that, is now the one trying to put that jigsaw puzzle back together again.
Ruling by oppression has never worked well, and I think we're about to see that lesson learned again. Iraq tried it. Turned out badly. Twice. ISIS/Al Qaeda tried it. Turned out badly, and continues to this day. But we've let the pressure off them, and they're gaining foothold again.
Maybe the western ways of education (leaving out the most important bits) has affected the world more than we know? Those in favor of rewriting history to soften it up and make it prettier might want to sit up and take some notes. What's going on is not new. We may not be leaving any children behind, but none are getting ahead either.
