Hurricane Ida, which strengthened into a Category 4 storm overnight, is continuing to strengthen. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 145 mph, the National Hurricane Center said in a 5 a.m. CDT update.

The "extremely dangerous" storm is forecast to make landfall in southeastern Louisiana Sunday.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

16 years to the day since Hurricane Katrina devastated us. The prediction now is that Hurricane Ida will still be a Category 1 when the eye passes about 45 miles West of us. This puts us on the 'wet' side of the storm and will give us a predicted ~9 inches of rain.

The eye is projected to pass directly over my Cabin/property.

Our weather event will be tomorrow so all of the generators will be exercised today.

Hoping all of you in the path stay safe! I read that Ida will be potential just 7mph short of a CAT5 storm when she makes landfall. That is just crazy insane. Wishing you all the best. Praying for as minimal loss as possible.

We are on the Western edge so not as much severe weather. We are getting about 3-4" of rain per hour and 30-50 mph wind gusts.

The eye is still predicted to pass directly over my Cabin/farm property which is 46 miles away so as soon as this thing clears I will take a drive and check everything out. As slow as it is moving, that might be tomorrow.

Right now I am in my recliner, eating a cookie, and drinking a cup of coffee. ;)

We have kept power over here so far. Lots of rain. One horse got a little hypothermic with the cold rain and wind. Getting that under control. Drainage ditches are a torrent. No downed trees near us and only a few small branches down. Won’t venture out today but have to work tomorrow so will go out for that. People west of us not fairing as well. This is a big one.

Our power company and their contractors are doing an amazing job of restoring power. My handicap BIL is the only one in my family that is still on a generator and it should be restored by nightfall.

Sooo, these vittles were prepared just in case we had no power but a plan is a plan: Ham and biscuits for lunch and....
IMG_0717.JPG

Biscuits with some of Don Johnson's New Hampshire Maple Syrup for dessert, so no well planned plan goes to waste. ;)

We dodged this one here in Florida thankfully. Hope all of you in LA are doing well. It was a beast of a storm coming in. It made landfall as a stronger hurricane than Katrina. It was up there near the strength of Michael that Hit us in Florida over here in October 2018. Michael done catastrophic damage where it came in, nearly wiping the town of Mexico Beach off the map.

MagicMan, yall still standing down there?

We got some rain and wind up here just north of Jackson but otherwise we're good.

Last night around 8 oclock after Ida was north of us we lost power for about 7 hours.
