I’m betting there’s some good YouTube videos on how to properly use a chef’s knife. If you don’t have one, get one. A good one.

I’ve gotten quite attached to a Santoku knife instead of a chef’s. Works the same more or less, but still want a good one.

Don’t go cheap on cutlery.

That part of prep is very easy once you get the knife skills down. My wife has gotten quite good in the last few years.

I re-use and re-purpose as many pots/pans and utensils as possible during the process!

I used to have dishwasher personnel to take care of it, but now I’m the chief cook and bottle washer…
A friend used to be a Cutco salesman as a student and was aware of their resharpening and repairing programs, and he was appalled at the lack of sharp knives in my kitchen so my Xmas present was a set of second hand resharpened knives. I don't always make the best use of them. Have lost feeling in parts of left hand and a lot of manual dexterity, so can't move quickly. Need to practice more!

Just after leaving the bar/restaurant business, I was a youngster health inspector.

There were times I watched a real novice with a knife, and could tell they were going to cut themselves sooner than later.

I would take it from them and do a little Knife Skills 101 lesson.

I was really fast with a knife back then. The looks on the nervous restaurant employee’s eyes were amazing.

Cool how are you getting rid of the rendered fat ?
There is a drip pan beneath the lower end of the cooker.

Different pig in 2017.

This is an annual event since 2001, that takes place in Harrison, MI. I drove 2275 miles to eat a pulled pork sammich.

It is a gathering of folks with timber/forestry, logging, and sawmilling interest. We had about 100 in attendance this year but no way could I get a picture of them all.

👍 Betch ya….

Our 32nd Anniversary dinner. We’ve been hanging around each other for 39 years.

We’re both of the opinion that we can eat better at home.

Happy Anniversary! And the opinion sounds familiar as well! 👍

The main reason for going out to eat at this point is to get new ideas for stuff to cook at home

I bought a Traeger Timberline 850 pellet grill yesterday so I hope to be cooking up some elk that I shot last fall. I know nothing about Traegers or how to get the best results from them but this one has built in wi-fi so it has to be idiot proof right. 😂

There's quite a few folks with pellet grills and smokers here on OTT.

Wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them didn't come along to provide some pointers...folks that have them really seem to like them.

Only had Elk a couple times at Game Dinners....good stuff! (y)

@mcmxi got the Cadillac of pellet grills 😁. I think he just has to take the meat out of the freezer and press a button on the app and the grill will take care of the rest 😂.

Love my pellet grill though btw
