Buying used is never the best plan.
Um, I disagree. I wanted a loader and backhoe to play with on my hobby tree farm. Found a well-used L35 for $14k. No way I'd pay $40+ for a new L47. Sure, I've had to make some repairs, maybe $2k plus my labor, but the drive-train seems sound. I've made trail, cleaned out ditches, hauled more loads of saplings to the dump than I'd like to admit, etc.
No, if I were in business needing to keep schedule and all that, this would not be the way to go. But for occasional use, I couldn't justify new.
