What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I say those exact words to myself all the time. Honestly, I now shy away from offering to do stuff for others anymore. I've been bitten way to many times and its always been at my expense in time and broken equipment.

I finally said "No" to a neighboring property owner (vacant lot) with lots of concrete debris. He's asked me 4 times if I would bury the stuff for him. Each time, I replied "no, you need a bigger machine. The last time he asked me I got a little agitated and told him that the last time I helped a neighbor, it wound up costing me $30K for a new tractor.

He just sold the lot, so I'm now hiding from the new owner.

I sort of tell people that I'm just too busy now. There are some that I continue to help, but I'm definitely more selective now.

If I could just learn to say "no" to mother, I'd be in great shape. Just finished loading the tractor to head up there in the am...I surely hope I don't break anything.

A possible answer to such requests might be “I’d like to help you out but my insurance won’t cover my liability or myself doing tractor-work for someone else.“

Worked on the kids playground. Today’s project digging little “slits” about a foot deep for burrying tires.

Not a Kubota, but fired up the old timer today and ran everything up to operating temperature.

The more I run it, I’m noticing it likes a little choke to smooth out.

Thinking could be as simple as the choke cable, but more suspicious of Dad using old ethanol gasoline in it, which I know he did....parts are still readily available for Marvel Schebler carbs.

Also verified that it will fit on that side of garage.....sshhh, don’t tell my wife.....

I had a grandfather-in-law who was the Minneapolis-Moline dealer in Bay City, Tx for decades. He had ”immigrated” to Tx from Minnesota as a child before the Great Depression and recalled thinking they were RICH with all the rice-farms in the area.... (rice being considered a staple in his family).

I always remembered Mr. Denn fondly whenever I think of a MM machine. Thanks for the pic! Enjoy that old beast.

Well it hasn't rained for a couple of days so this was a good opportunity to regrade about 200' of my gravel driveway. After I ripped out the juniper bed and replaced it with new plantings / mulch / edging I saw I had a drainage problem. This section of the driveway was tilted towards the new bed. When it rained the edging didn't allow runoff. I really didn't want it to drain on that side anyway. So. . .

I got a real chance to use my new top n tilt with the box and back blades. First I experimented with ripping. Fortunately because of the recent rain the rippers made short work of loosening everything. Unfortunately because of the recent rain the material was really heavy.

Then I used the back blade to move the material from one side to the other. Again the top n tilt made life much easier in setting the tilt of the blade. I ended up moving about 5-6" of material from the high side to the low side. As I was doing it I realized the mulch edging was only 3" high so I had to taper down to it starting about 12" away. That was manual raking work. It would have been easier if it wasn't 90 degrees.

All in all I'm pleased with the results but I'm going to have to bring in some material to dress it out. We will see in the next rain how it does.

Worked on the rotary mower. Noticed some bolts missing from the rear guard, replaced those and went around and tightened all the other bolts.

Gotta call salesman Monday and figure out what else I need, I ran out of slots for the levers.

I think I remember seeing another bracket where those two bolts are in the brochure. He’ll take care of me, not too worried about it.

I haven't driven that routinely in 30 years, but started 51 years ago.

We complain here on OTT sometimes about safety features, switches, etc.

That Old Fart has nothing. Given the narrow front end (NFE) and loader, it's prone to be a little dicey any day, and "it" could happen real quick.

There's probably 73 different ways that could kill you. You need to pay attention operating it.

While it's been years, I was taught safety by my Grandfather and Father...hoping I retained enough of that.

I had several school classmates severely hurt or killed in farm accidents.

Whether Darwinian or not would be debatable.

I've often said if there were more people like that, there'd be less people like that.....

Honestly, sometimes it does give you an appreciation of at least some of the modern safety features.....

I believe I figured this out on my own. The older MX kit was ordered. I need kit MX6883, MX8453 was ordered. This is what it should look like. And I will probably be cutting my 1st lever down a touch.

I went to put my backhoe on after taking my landplane off. When I went to line up the BH to the back of the tractor, I couldn't move the stabilizers independently. Both levers moved in unison. After thinking about this for awhile, I consulted the gods of Youtube:

Mowed with the B1700 on Saturday and noticed that the belt on the mower deck was coming apart. I have a new belt on hand. Will change it this week and pull the blades to put a quick edge back on them since I’ve hit a few rocks this spring

Needed to dig a narrow trench to bury some direct burial cable. Made a 'trencher' out of an old bush hog blade and my one row plow frame. This thing works like a champ. The angle of the BH blade rolls the soil perfectly and you have a great little trench.
