What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Had a persimmon tree in our back yard that started having problems suddenly a couple years ago. Think it was probably hit by lightning but not sure as no external evidence. It came back partially for a while but this spring pretty obvious it’s done for. Not a big tree, but tall and house is well within range. A rather hefty 120’ bull rope and the L helped convince it to come on down in the right direction. Grapple was useful for taking 7’ sections two at a time to the woodlot for further processing and taking the small amount of brush to the brush pile for chipping.

The rope wasn’t really necessary but I don’t cut a high volume of trees any more so I’m in no hurry and prefer to be a bit overly cautious at times.

What brand rototiller are you using, and how do you like it? thanks.

It’s a landpride RTA1250, it’s a beast for its size. I picked the forward rotating one with the adjustable rear flap because my area grows rocks better than it grows corn. A few times it’s tossed rocks out the back that I could barely pick up by hand. Only issue so far is I somehow busted a link on the flap (it also doubles as the parking stand). I’m assuming I didn’t lift it high enough when backing up and hit the ground.

Did some mowing at the farm. We had to skip some areas because of the rainfall and just being to muddy.

A post in another thread got me thinking about our area, which is basically hills upon hills and what grade was I mowing at. I installed some meters to see what the grade was and was surprised to see some of the numbers. It is interesting what you get use to and didn't even realize that the grades that we work because that is just the way our property is laid out.

Gonna put vinyl on it to match the house. That little eye-candy thing that keeps it from looking like aliens left something in the back yard. I went through a bit of geometry and effort to set it parallel to the house for symmetry and putting some money in it so it doesn't become a detraction from the property instead of a feature. I vacillated about the roof, but for the labor involved, looks like we're going metal roofing. Just me and the Missus, and she ain't climbing ladders more than a few feet off the floor. Good policy, but somewhat inconvenient when handling long items.

Took the grapple off and used the bucket to spread 3000 pounds of sheep manure on the garden. Serviced the MMM and am going to put it on next. Hopefully the rain stops so I can mow the grass or I may need to pick up some livestock to mow it down.

The goats will keep things trimmed up nicely. Just remove any plants that are poison to them. Have good fences and sell them in the fall. Just buy the females as the males stink to high heaven.

I'd love to have a few goats and miniature donkey or two but my wife says we only need one ass in the yard and he has a tractor

Mowed the yard and also did ~1/3 mile of road shoulders so my bride and the dog have room during their walks and runs along the road.

The tractor was pretty clean before. Hard to tell, but there's a bunch of dandelion seed, pollen, and dust dirt all over. Tractor was running a little hotter than normal.

Hosed tractor off, pulled battery cover screen for cleaning, screen for radiator was cleaned, and also sprayed out radiator.

There were a ton of dandelion seeds stuck to the intake screen, the radiator screen was 10% occluded, and about 20% of the radiator was obstructed.

Those are things I keep track of all summer and fall. Not so much in December when I'm blowing 36" of snow....

The BX series is noted for overheating due to plugged up components of the cooling system.

A BX will mess up a head or head gasket in a heartbeat if they overheat. Big $$$ to fix something that can be avoided.

You should pay attention to this stuff.

People wash their tractors? That's like washing a hammer. I bought it new too, I'll have to try it sometime. Never occurred to me, though I am a stickler for keeping it inside when not in use, and I always flip up the seat if I'm out of it for more than a few minutes.

Got started on cutting and chipping the dead fall from last winter, the Honda Rancher ATV and trailer for the chips will then haul and spread them on my path I have thru the trees on the left that runs along a stream with a 14% grade, so a lot of white water.

It just occurred to me, I have never washed my ATV either, also bought new, but like the tractor it's always under cover and is otherwise very well pampered, I guess i think a little dust and dirt or mud won't hurt anything?

Got my new TerraForce ER 062 5ft tiller Thursday, fit up to the NT QH like a cheap suit. I been looking for a tiller new or used for couple months ,used always wanted nearly new price ,5 different Tractor Supply stores didn't have one nor could they tell me how long it would take to get one,so Kubota dealer sold this brand,and it was already Orange! Put it on went to tilling food plots,been hot n dry in SC. Didn't realize just how much dust it would generate,did the food plots I keep up under the power lines on both sides of the road,turned around to come back up for 2nd pass,tremendous dust cloud blowing across road,neighbors weren't home,had all the windows open . Good luck to all on your projects.

I washed mine today. The damned chickens scratch in the dirt under the barn overhang where it sleeps. Plus the pollen this year is just crazy especially the pines. Anyway finished that, cleaned the chaff screen hosed off the finish mower and cut the back and side fields. It's a gorgeous day here high of 72 and low humidity. A far cry from what it's been. Seems like we blinked and missed Spring. I did burn a tank of gas in the trimmer before mowing the front yard with the Cub Cadet. It's beer:30 BTW.

50hr service at 127hrs. In the old owners defense, the dealer was telling him to wait till 250hrs. This is the right side hydro filter. Left side, under step broke my strap wrench... Filters and topping off hydro, filter and oil for engine. Fuel filter has been changed already.

Bush hogged a 1.5 acre erosion area between soybean field and road with L3901 and Land Pride 5' bush hog. Most of the time, was in 4th gear. Had to drop down to 3rd in heavy thick grass occasionally. Grass/weeds were about 4' high. Drove over heavy cut grass once in hi-1 (5th). Bush hog does a nice job.
Hour meter reading at end of work was 50.1 hrs.
