I have the spring, but do not know where it goes. Not sure where I should be looking. Any suggestions appreciated. I am assuming it is the spring that is the problem, or it could have been from something else that occurred at the same time.
Spring came off...now my T1880 will not go forward or backward...

A picture of the mystery spring could help in identifying where it came from/something in the controls underneath
I looked through parts illustrations and the only external spring I could see was associated with the brake pedal.
However, likely linkage has become disconnected under your tractor and removing the mower deck for a good look is suggested.

This is very helpful. The spring is exactly like the one in the illustration labeled #210. I can't see where it connects in the photo or wha it connects to. Thank you.

I marked up Whitetiger's parts illustration for you
The long end of the spring connectsinto a hole in the pivoting lever with the pulley attached.
The other end of the spring clips to something which is not clear to me but if you look closely you should see polished metal from where the spring attached.

I jacked it up, removed the wheel and I still can't figure out where this spring attache
I jacked up the tractor, removed the wheel and I still cannot figure out where this spring attaches at the other end. See the pictures...
Looking at the parts diagram, I would be following the lever back to the pivot point, and then locate the bolt labeled 070. That should put you close to where the spring attaches.
Your photos are too small to be of much use. I tried expanding them but there is little detail.

It may be that the bolt/screw O70 is missing which is why I cannot find an attach point. Sorry about the pix, I am new at uploading. Will try again tomorrow to see if I can find the attach point. Appreciate your help.

The spring attaches to the Hydro belt tensioner and a bolt in the LH side frame rail, about halfway between the front and rear tires. It's pretty much straight Left of the tensioner mounting bolt.
