Not sure if this is in correct area, if not please move.

I took my L3410 transmission with axle trumpets in for repair (whole rear end minus the tires), because I did not have the time at the time to replace a failed bearing. I was given a 1 week time line to finish repair and have it back to me, that was three months ago on 4-2-19 and every time I call they promise it will be done by the end of the week. I went and paid them a visit on Friday 7-5-19 and the internal bearing was switched out and all that was left was to put the axle trumpets on and some exterior parts, and again was promised it would be done first thing Saturday morning. I show up Saturday 7-6-19 to pick it up and it is still not done. I was told by service manager that is will be done without a doubt Monday 7-8-19. Well guess what today is 7-8-19 and it is still not done and now I am being told it wont be done until the end of the week on 7-13-19. I am tired of the run around and I am more than mechanically inclined to make the repair myself but did not have the time to do it 3 months ago.

My question is can I pick it up as is and finish the repair myself not sure if I have to wait on them to finish it? If so should Kubota dealership discount the bill to do the repair which is now at 80% complete? Either way I will not be using this dealership for ANYTHING in the future. I am beyond frustrated and do not know what to do as I have never been in a situation like this before. Any advice will be helpful! Thanks in advance.

More than likely they will not release the tractor till the repair is done.

That's pretty losey service to say the least.

Have you tried calling Kubota Corporate and complain to them?

Sounds like they only have half a tractor. I would let them finish it though as bad of a deal as it’s been for you. If anything happens to the repair they performed after you pick it up not finished the blame will be put on you immediately.

I never understood the grumpy old man thing, until I started becoming one. You sound like the me of the past, just a nice guy. And, people will certainly take advantage of your niceness. I think this is a perfect example. They probably have quite a bit of work to do and have placed you on the back burner. "Louder" customers are probably being placed ahead of you in the line.

I would guarantee one stern phone call, and they will have the work done.....just like magic.

I don't always choose that as my first option when handling things, but I will resort to it when necessary. Sounds like you need to as well. You don't have to be a jerk, but let them know you mean business.

Why not call the principle owner of that store and when you get him/her on the phone ask them to confirm Kobuta Corportate's phone number (which you would have already looked and have written down.)

You can proceed to tell them why you are calling. Have all the details of the phone conversations with his service manager in front of you for evidence, including names, time, date, etc.

If he can not make a promise he can keep, call the number to let Corp. know they have a dealership with integrity problems.

Unfortunately, this.

Escalate, escalate, escalate. Let them know you are extraordinarily dissatisfied at the service they are providing on behalf of Kubota. There is almost no amount of frustration you could display that would result in you being the jerk over this pathetic level of service from ANY business.

They are choosing to not work on your tractor, period. Unless 100% of the repairs that came in after yours are ALSO waiting for months, they are simply putting you on the back burner for some reason or another.

I hate my local Kubtoa dealer. They were horrible salespeople so I bought from a much better dealer about an hour north. Local dealer literaly told me to not bother bringing my tractor in for any work if I didnt buy it from them and if I did, to expect insane wait time. I've badmouthed his business up and down to at least 20 prospective buyers. Its shocking how truly moronic some of these dealers are in the way they interact, particularly when representing a much larger entity....

Situations like this are some of the few where I take the gloves off. Call corporate, keep asking for people higher and higher up until eventually this dealer gets a stern call from someone above him. At the same time, become literally the squeaky hinge at this dealer. When getting ride of you by completing the work becomes less of a hassle than you showing up, calling or escalating to their management your tractor will be fixed pronto.

Modify that corporate phone call a bit. Tell them you want a representative to meet you at the dealership so as to resolve the problem.
Now here is a great idea. I like it. This could come in handy at a big box store too. When will the district rep be in the area? I'd like to meet with him/her at the store.

Call the local TV station and get them to help you investigate your problem. I’ve seen it done here locally. Nobody likes cameras and microphones showing up at their business asking questions.

Some devilishly good nuclear options here. One idea might me to just be a bit stronger with them first and leave them with a bit of a "I really dont want to have to start escalating this but I'm ready and already working to do so."

Its a veiled threat but you'll be able to gauge how they react almost immediately. If the run-around continues, they deserve whatever hell you bring upon their business. If they suddenly correct their ways and you get your repairs you've also learned a bit more how this dealer operates in a negative way for your own future decisions but at the same time solved your short-term issue.

Might be a fine line between being demanding and actually getting a quality repair but if they consider you a squeaky enough hinge, they'll realize its more worth their time giving you quality service than dealing with you as an unhappy customer.
