Gas 2.49 when I filled the gas cans yesterday, diesel was 2.99, at our country gas station where it’s always 10 cents at least higher then in the city

Good question. I see OPEC cut production again and while I keep hearing we are a net exporter (of crude) now, for some reason, OPEC is still the driving force concerning pump prices. I really think refiners use that as a tool to gouge consumers more than anything else.

It's a 'gotta have it' commodity so if it costs a dollar per gallon (good thing) or 5 bucks a gallon (not a good thing), you'll buy it anyway because you have to have it.

I'm always looking for ways to beat the price. My wife and I have Kroger cards and shop at Kroger. I got my Kroger World Mastercard not to long ago on a promotion that I'd receive at least 25 cents off per gallon (for a year, no limit) when I used it, providing I bought at least 100 bucks a month in groceries which I (we) do anyway, out cards are linked, my wife and mine and last time I got gas, I saved the 25 cents plus an additional 30 cents so 55 cents off the advertised pump price and I filled the Suburban and my car and Amy's buggy. That is a helluva savings anyway you cut it on a 'gotta have it' commodity. Interestingly, the Kroger gas station is usually a couple cents less (advertised price) than the other filling stations close by.

So, I have to have it but if I can get it cheaper, I do. It's all weasel pee anyway. Good gasoline went by-bye with unleaded years ago.

Isn't a litre (liter here) a short quart?

Here in BC it hit $1.70CAD/L last week for regular, $1.52CAD/L for diesel. I fuel up just south of the 49th in the land of the cheaper fuel from the same refinery: regular $3.39USD/gal, diesel $3.79USD/gal. I save more than $100 every two weeks by filling my tidy tank and pickup in the USA, and I'm buying fuel refined from Canadian oil in WA state refinery for $0.30-$0.40 less than I pay for the same stuff on our side of the 49th.

The US gallon is used in the United States and is equal to exactly 231 cubic inches or 3.785411784 liters. The Imperial gallon or UK gallon is used in the United Kingdom and is equal to approximately 277.42 cubic inches. Its exact value is defined as 4.54609 liters. One imperial gallon is approximately 1.2 US gallons.

Gas 2.69, diesel 2.89 here. Off road about .30 less. I did buy gas in a town 20 miles away for 2.45 last week. Every station in that town that I saw was that price! Must be a gas war.

Cannot wait for out new (brain dead) governor to kick in her proposed 45 cent gas tax increase. Might as well just bankrupt everyone in Michigan at one time. Ohio just upped their's 10 cents.

Guess if the 45 cent increase is put in, I'll be buying my gas and diesel in Ohio.

Too complex for me. All I know is, we pay less per unit than you do. I never could get my arms wrapped around your currency either (when I went snowmachining up in Northern Ontario). The 'Onies' and 'Tunies' and the aluminum coins always befuddled me, especially when I came home and tried to redeem them at the local bank and they refused. Still have a jar of Canadian money somewhere. Always called it 'funny money'.

Since we're all good friends here, Flip... what is your Kroger Card Number? I promise to keep it to myself... ;)

Our "funny money" coloured bills are actually what stops the proliferation of bogus cash here. I was dealing with a fella once who was paying in US cash and out of about 30 twenties, 3 of them were clearly fake - you don't get that up here anymore with our polymer bills.

Some of your US funded left wing looney tune groups have been influencing our politics (Tides Foundation funding Leadnow funding Canadian native bands to block the oil pipelines) and it's really killing our oil and natural gas sector, and making us pay far more than we should for fuel.

I save all my loonies and toonies and plastic money for my next trip back to the GWN. I have found that if you find a cassino and take your CDS into exchange it for USD you will get a better exchange rate then anyplace else. I hit the one in the Suite right off the bridge, never had a problem and they were very friendly about it. No I dont gamble with my money, only my life :D

Ever since it became necessary to either have an enhanced license or a passport to go to Canada, I haven't been back and don't plan to either. I'm 40 miles from the border, might as well be a million.
