I thought it would look nicer on the back. Plus, putting it on the back hides the weld.Looks really good. Can I ask why you welded the mesh on the back side and not the front?
The welds look a little cold but you did great for a first attempt. This is my first time welding. The weld is not pretty and probably not as strong as it should be. But there's a first time for everything.
This is probably the direction I intend to go i.e. mesh welded to angle that bolts to the factory guard. A member here makes very nice grill guards but like many here I'm going to make my own.6feettogo said:I installed the mesh in angle irons and then bolted them to the guard. I did this so if something happens to the mesh, I can just unbolt them and make new ones without having to grind down all the welds to get the mesh off.
I hadn't thought about hiding the welds.I thought it would look nicer on the back. Plus, putting it on the back hides the weld.
I bought a pair of clamp on bucket forks for less than $100 shipped to my house. As little as I need pallet forks I think they will work fine. 1500 lb. capacityThis is my first time welding. The weld is not pretty and probably not as strong as it should be. But there's a first time for everything.
Next project will be DIY clamp-on bucket forks.
