MX 5200
you can start it up six times in a row then maybe like the seventh time it will not start up. I dumped all the diesel out the tank put fresh diesel, and new Filters. It was absolutely the same situation.

Explain what you mean by “will not start up”
Do you mean cranks over (engine spins) but does not fire the cylinders?
Do you mean it won’t even spin the engine over?

I assume you meant the first since you have been looking at the fuel already, but please confirm that.

I would assume it is a fuel issue and probably is the solenoid that controls the fuel getting to the injection pump.

About the only logical way to approach this issue is take it to a dealer and have them put it on a computer and properly diagnose the problem.

Took it to the dealer in Brenham, Texas. It was a total flop. They changed the fuel filter and drained the diesel. now when I left the dealership it cranked right up. The next day it totally failed to start.

If you can easily get it back to the dealer they should be able to fix it under warranty of the fix that didn’t fix it! Heck, they may even do a field service for you.

If not get a Work Shop Manual (WSM) and investigate the fuel shutoff system. The dealer has the diagnostic test system so can do it easier than you (I assume).

If you get the dealer involved, suggest that it is something that is keeping the fuel from being injected into the cylinder. It could be some biological growth in the fuel system??

That dealer did you no favors.
Either the issue was not copyable, they did not get the proper history of the issue, or they simply just dropped the ball.

Are the glow plugs being energized the same as when it does start?
While cranking are there any fumes or smoke emitted from the exhaust pipe?
Does the engine cough or fire at all?
Is ALL the safety switch related gear in the same state as when it does start?
How long after a successful run does the start failure occur?
How long after failing to start before it's started again?
Has there been any large change in humidity or temperature?

In other words, what's different when it won't go?

Sorry to say this, but 90% of this does not apply to a common rail electronically injected emissions controlled engine.
