Not sure the moderator of OTT has that kind of power, but ok.
I just got back from a week ban for " racial, political and religious commentary". No details so still confused at what post triggered the Orwellian moderators.

Read Marx, Engel, Dewey, the Humanist Manifestos, and Alinsky.

They all understood that controlling the language means controlling the argument, and that means controlling the outcome, and that means controlling the nation.

History proves they were right.

Words matter.
Bingo, Mark.

It seems some of you didn’t read or didn’t understand the rules. https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/help/terms/

I don’t find it a big sacrifice to only talk tractors here.
It does not say anywhere in the link you posted "to only talk tractors here". Please consider the OFF TOPIC thread as offensive to you and never go to it because there will seldom be any mention of a tractor, and your frustration level will be reduced.

Yeah, that and I was given no detail as to how I offended the OTT rule on politics.

No one is “controlling” the language.... as evidenced by the “Off Topic” area to which you refer. The mentality which seems to predominate the discussion these-days reminds me of unruly children who need to be sent to the principals’ office where paddling is still allowed. (Although, if I ever meet up with Coach Goldberg who gave me three “swats” for violating a rule (not to visit one’s school-locker on Saturday to retrieve a homework assignment ...a rule which he had never pronounced.... and a visit which he facilitated by unlocking the hallway doors to the lockers on Saturday)..... despite the advanced-age at which he will exist these days..... I’ll beat the snot out of him.)

I was paddled regularly by Mrs. Whitworth in 6th grade for NOT doing my homework...and in 7th grade was paddled for attempting to DO my homework. LOL

Anyway...Your “rights” stop when they violate others’ rights. It’s a bit disingenuous to insist you’re practicing your individual “rights” while you endanger others “right to life” by claiming rules regarding proper attire in-public (wearing clothes and masks) somehow “violate” your rights.

Orwellian moderators.
You do understand that insulting / slandering / defaming / just plain ticking off the moderator is not the smartest move you could make!

You got a time out for Political rants simple as that, what more do I need to explain to you!

PM me the post that did it. I honestly have no clue what you are referring nor did you let me know when you banned me for 7 days.

I guess it is not practical, but I often thought it would be nice if there was a "view only" place for deleted posts or threads to reside, that could be looked at for learning purposes/guidance by members.

I often have wondered why threads and/or posts have disappeared...not just here at OTT, but elsewhere as well.

It is understandable that control of a forum must be maintained and I personally have no problem with that at all. But I do like to learn from other's mistakes, rather than just my own. :)

Wouldn’t that be kinda like looking at banned-pornography or violent-videos or having an extra-marital affair so you can see what that was like? I think the moderator specified what the violation was.

I made a comment to the poster in reference to the link he posted and his desire of only talking about tractors on this forum. Your experience has nothing to do with my post.

I don’t think so.

But I was talking in general terms, not specific to this particular incident.

AND the generic explanation in this case did little to help my understanding of the offense. OR to prevent me from making the same mistake in the future....

Perhaps I’m just not good a reading between the lines...

My simple rule to follow is to type it out and see if you would say a similar statement (when not in heated debate) in a polite mixed company somewhat formal event AND know that no one there could or would be offended by it. If not just delete that post, take a deep breath, and move on to another thread. Or write it again in a more gentle form.

Try to be as nice and polite here as you know others SHOULD be and then you won’t have any problem.

And if any particular person is annoying you then just use the ignore feature that is available or when you see a post from them just scroll past it.
