Wiring lights to battery help

I'm trying to install lights that have to be wired directly to the battery.


I tried removing the positive battery post but the nut doesn't come loose.

Does anyone have advice on how to wire lights up to it?

Not sure about the wiring piece,but I would get the battery nut on your terminal taken care of. At some point you will need to take that connection apart and I can just about guarantee that it will not be at a convenient time or place.

I would suggest a fuse in there, as close to the battery as possible. At least a fusible link if you need a lot of juice.

I agree with RMS--take the terminal off now in a warm barn with lights, not "later" in a cold, dark, wet, windy place.

That said, I'd go to the alternator end of that same wire if adding "stuff". There's probably a lug there you can just slide a circular terminal on. (Obviously, then I would put the fuse as close to that as possible).

Get the battery terminal/cable fixed btw!

You need a relay hooked straight to the battery - that way it is on a separate fused circuit and you could have the lights on with the tractor off on those rare occasions.

A proper fitting box end wrench should get that clamp nut loose. There's also battery clamp pullers made just for removing the clamp to prevent damaging the battery post itself or its internal connections.
