I presently have a BX2822 55" wide snowblower, a heavy-duty gear-driven unit. This summer I picked up a V5296 66" wide snowblower used on a Kubota RTV1120D. I have checked the gearing and they are both the same, and the only difference is the width of the snowblower and the K connect. I compared the K connect on my BX2822 and it is the same as the V5296 and it will bolt in at the correct holes at the bottom, and I will need to drill a new bolt hole to secure it to the snowblower. The V5296 blower has a Shipping weight of 340 lb. and the BX2822 shows as weighing 452 lbs. I believe that the shipping weight of the V5296 is incorrect and should be 540 lbs. Do you think that my idea will work or will it be too much for the BX23S to handle? If not, I have myself a 500-pound boat anchor.

Have to agree that 'shipping weight' seems low but that also includes the skid or crate it comes in. It'd be nice to know the actual weight of the blowers. Something 11" wider should weigh more however maybe they V5296 is made of thinner tin than your heavy duty BX2822 ? I don't know.
Adding extra weight up front won't be a problem BUT driving it around could be ! The foot of extra width means you can't steer tight corners.
Also that extra foot of auger WILL take more HP.
Bottom line..try it, couple of holes isn't too bad of a bodge. and if it doesn't work out, resell it. ?

I'm still not clear on what you are trying to do - put a slightly larger gas powered blower on the front of your BX tractor? And you aren't sure if your BX can pick it up? Or are you trying to figure out if the K connect system is compatible between the BX and the RTV?

Neither. Adapting a snowblower that was originally for an RTV to a tractor. Both blowers, the one made for the RTV and the Tractor use the same drive system, it is just that the larger one is 11" wider and slightly taller. Will it work if I use the K connect system from the tractor on the snowblower for the RTV? GreensvilleJay understood the question and has made a good point. My question was directed more toward those who understand the workings of both the tractor and the RTV such as NIW. This post is a research plan.

well. you can move about 20% more snow(11/55), so less passes, gets the job done quicker, providing the tractor has the power.
So instead of spending 5 hours out in the cold, you'd be done in 4.

It is a cabbed BX23S and I upgraded from a 50" snowblower to a 55" snowblower, and it made a big difference. That is why I want to go wider so I can do everything in 2 passes instead of 3.

I really don't see any real glaring issue.
It's should be within the lift capacity of the K connect
It's within the HP range.
