Why so many pop up ads recently?

Ads are fine, but those that pop up and obscure what you are reading or typing are extremely annoying. The pop ups have become constant on this site.

you need to get Adblock or Adblockplus or something like that - there are dozens of extensions that you can get to knock out 99% of the those ads.

I have not seen an ad here in 10 years!

I’ve been on this site for over 10 years. And I haven’t been bothered with popup adds until recently.

These useless pop up ads started showing about a month ago.

The problem with those is they also stop all pop ups. My online banking and a few other sites have pop up pages. I had Adblock and had to disable it to use my banking.

I use Brave for OTT cause of other issues I had a couple years ago, don’t get any ads on here

My pop-up blocker allows you to add those web addresses where you will allow the pop-up to happen. I regret to say that I can't remember the name of the pop-up blocker that I installed on the computer.

The problem with those is they also stop all pop ups. My online banking and a few other sites have pop up pages. I had Adblock and had to disable it to use my banking.

Ah yes - but you simply tell ADblock NOT to block those site and it remembers. I have many sites that I have to suffer through to get to the good stuff - like banking, insurance etc.

But for all the rest of the never ending ads - I try to block the living @#$# out of them!

Another aspect of ads is they’re greatly reduced if you’re a Lifetime member.

I’m on my cell, so I can’t tell who is or is not a Lifetime member.

Can’t speak for Wolfman or 85Hokie, but pretty sure there was a discussion about Moderator compensation several years ago.

Suggested it go up 100%…

Yes Dusty. That’s your point of view. For me, I was having no issues until a few days ago and OTT was inundated with many many pop up ads to the point where it caused posting or replying issues…..mean while other forums I visit did not have these issues. Which leads viewers to wonder if the forum is having issues and subsequently ask questions and post a thread.
I posted a couple of days ago, received advice which I accepted and so far has fixed my issues with this forum. . Not everyone likes to keep installing apps for everything and anything…unless necessary. Sheesh…next thing there will be an app for me to install to wipe myself!!
