I had made a spraying spread sheet a couple of years ago in preparation to do a spraying job but then was informed by someone on this forum that I might need a license to do that. Yep! It's a big deal in Montana to spray Milestone or Roundup without a license, even if not charging for the service so that job never happened.
Anyway, I updated the spreadsheet this morning and it gives me an easy way to get some idea of the the practical differences between a 55 gallon tank with a 10ft boom (7 nozzles) vs. a 200 gallon tank with a 20ft boom (12 nozzles). I can enter values in the green cells and the table updates. If I were to make a 20 ft, 12 nozzle boom to run with the 55 gallon tank, I would need to fill up the tank four times vs. five times but it would cut the spraying time in half. So really
I can't imagine it would cost much to make a 20 ft boom, but I'd need to add valving to provide control of the three sections of the boom. This would be the most economical solution and would cost a lot less than buying a whole new system with a 20ft boom.
This thread has been helpful for sure.
