Third day here without power and there are still roads blocked with fallen trees. Looks like it's gonna take a long time to dig out.

Main roads are clear at least 1 lane. Interstates are open all lanes. Secondary roads are ice skating rinks 😱😱😱

35° was the high yesterday so the secondary roads got good and packed. Then Temps dropped to 9° last night and froze it solid 🙄🙄🙄

Got up to around 36° again today. Supposed to be mid 40's tomorrow.

Brought the service truck home tonight since I gotta go back to Wichita Sunday. That 1/2 mile of secondary roads to the house was a slipping sliding experience at 10mph. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Plowed again after work today, Just a few more inches over night for us, we have had a Pennsylvania winter like the ones I remember growing up. 20210219_172218.jpg 20210219_172227.jpg 20210219_172234.jpg 20210219_172247.jpg 20210219_172306.jpg 20210219_173708.jpg The rig is working as expected.

I know you boys got more sense than at least 99% of the population, but stay away from any power lines down. Don't try and move them or get trees off of them. I know y'all know better, but I felt it cannot hurt to say it.

Texas around Austin area pretty much thawed today. The trees are pretty much shed of ice and snow. The main roads are fairly free of ice and snow. The secondary and small county roads I drove today were mostly clear except the shaded areas.
By tomorrow I think all the roads will be clear except for the sand/gravel they put on overpasses.

I was personally very lucky not any major tree damage to any valuable trees, no broken water pipes, no power outage, no water outage (just have to boil the water to drink for a few days).

Yeaaaa, we got power today!!! 3 1/2 days without power is enough but my Son and my Daughter do not have power nor do they have an estimated time of when. No fun.

Here in west Tennessee, we were fortunate. We missed most of the ice and settled for about 8" of snow and cold - never lost gas, water or electricity. Friday was clear and the sun started working. I spent about 3 hours yesterday shoveling my driveway (with a round-point shovel, I refuse to live where a snow shovel is required 🥶) and got sunburned.
Today I got out in my 2WD Nissan truck for the first time since Monday. The main streets and roads were 'plowed' and were clear enough for the average driver. The smaller streets are still packed snow, occasional clear spots and icy spots but mostly passable with care. I had a little fun with traction control on and off. It helps considerably, I need to read up on how it works - brake only or some throttle modulation? I think it'll be another couple of days before the streets are all clear.

I crossed off my Son who got power today. That leaves the Daughter who still has a generator running. Thankfully we all have water and the boil water requirement has been lifted.

I've got a question for my northern friends. Do private citizens help plow the roads? If so, are they reimbursed? I was in Cincinnati once during a snow event, and there seemed to be a lot of pickups plowing without any kind of government markings.

In Vermont, it was city, county and state employees plowing the roads. Private citizens would plow driveways for friends and customers.

Here in Arkansas, I used to plow my driveway the neighbors driveway and the road in our neighborhood with the tractor.

In the county, your pretty much out of luck with having the county actually plow the road you live on unless it's a main road. Towns are similar. Keep the main roads open. Neighborhoods are ignored.

Our area was predicted to be the worst ice storm we’ve had in 20 years. Texas, part 2.

We were quite blessed to get not enough ice to do anything other than take down a few spindly pines.

We have dug out and all of our family has power and water. All of the generators are now "parked" in their garage. Happy....happy.

In Canada, to my knowledge, private citizen do not help plow the roads. In fact I think you can be charged if your plow even touches the surface of the road and you're not on private property. Public roads are maintained by towns, counties etc ...

it will depend on your provincial and municipal laws. For example where I live, I’m required to make sure my rural mailbox is accessible. I use my tractor or atv to clear the snow around the mailboxes.i also plow or snowblow 50’ ish down the road before my driveway so that the plow is dropping snow before he gets to my entrance. You are not allowed to plow across a road. However I can put as much snow as I need to into the ditches.
