Barlows is an 11 drive, one way from my house in south Louisiana. Pretty far to travel for a tractor deal. I contacted all the dealers within a 2-3 mile drive away from me. Waiting to hear back from them.
Just get a price quote (w/delivery) from Barlows to compare.

They also deliver all over the country, you don't need to go there.

R1's are more agressive than R4's, but there are many variables involved in getting stuck- R1's may not have gotten you out.
That being said, R1's aren't too agressive for mowing, if you drive reasonably.
I agree with Hodge, the R1 tires do fine mowing lawns. I have been mowing with my L3000 for 14 seasons and never have any trouble. Only way I would even consider R4's would be on a full time TBL.

As far as tractor size goes, myself I would lean toward the 3800. I find myself all the time needing bigger than my L3000. I love the tractor but it's either just right or to small in size. I have never had it be to big for a job.

I guess I will be the odd ball. Upgraded to B3200 with the LA504 loader to take care of 80 acres of timber/hunting property. I have never once wished I had a bigger tractor. In the woods it is perfect size to get around.

Lifts and moves anything the bucket or 48" grapple can get a hold of. Pulls a full 60" box scraper and handles a 5' brush hog and 6' disc. Easy on fuel and nice to trailer.

The money I saved over an L was used on a grapple and rear remotes. Rather have the grapple and remotes than the L.

B3200 just right for some of us.

I'm pretty much sold on the L3800 but still can't seem to find a dealer in my price range. Just got another quote for $25,900 (incl tax)

I may have to go with the L3200 or even the B3200 to get a tractor I can afford.

Many people recommend Barlows, even with shipping a distance. probably worth checking.

Sounds like the dealers are jacking you up real bad. If you do the build your own at the Kubota site a 3800 with loader is only like 21,500.

I'm getting $23,939 on Kubota's website.

L3800 4x4 HST LA524 Quick Attach Bucket.

I'm starting to get a few more prices in. The cheapest still being around $24,500 (incl tax and ins)

Would I really need the quick attach bucket?

The QA may not be a requirement but it will be the best money you'll spend. I don't know what I would do without mine.

If it was me and this is just my preference, L3800, Gear tranny, 4wd, loader / QA, and 42" pallet forks which comes in at $23,200. The HST doesn't interest me in the slightest way so that save quite a bit on the final price.

I bought a 2011 L3800DT w/LA524 FEL w/43hrs on it for 15,000. And just purchased a new landpride 5' cutter for 1,550.00. When i was looking at buying new my dealer here in Oklahoma was quoting me about 20,000 for the tractor and loader.

If you never need to take the bucket off, no need to get the QA. I got the fixed bucket and am not missing anything.

But I'm with Bulldog on the gear drive all the way! No HST for me!

My cheapest quote I received so far is $21,255 (inc tax and ins)
That's for an L3800, 4X4, Gear Shift Transmission, FEL w/ 60" bucket (non QA), RCR1260 Landpride Bush Hog. Dealer said they do load the rear tires and fill it up with diesel.

I've contacted every dealer within a 6 hour drive of my house. All seem to be about the same with the exception of one dealer coming in about $1500 less than the rest. Still waiting on quotes from more than half of those I contacted though.

Me thinks I'll be going with the L3200, Gear Shift, and non QA bucket to save money.

Bought a L3800 today 20,400. List price was 24,400.They loaded tires and delivered. Ended up being about 14% off list.
What was your dealers name and address? I'm not opposed to a couple hours travel if it saves me enough money to purchase an implement!

Also thinking about going with R1 tires instead of R4. It will cut down the cost and I worry how well the R4 tires will work in a 1 acre vegetable garden.

This goes back and forth in both directions but in my opinion R1's are for tractors and R4's are for industrial equipment. Yes the R4 tires will work fine but if you plan on working in even light mud I strongly suggest the R1 tires.

If its a budget you're building on, then if it was me I'd go for an L3200 2WD gear tranny and R1 ag tires. You'll save another few grand on 2wd over 4wd. I think going 2wd will knock another $1500 to $2000 off the price.

Now that is getting down into the good price range and the exact package I'd want personally. The LP mower is a $1500 item, so that puts the tractor under 20k. R1 tires and gear trans!

You never did call Barlows did ya? ;)

That would get the price down. But no way I'd go 2wd with a loader. The 4wd bug has bit me bad!

If you dont buy a 4wd, you will wish you did. You are buying a tractor, buy a 4wd. I know you will save a few bucks with a 2wd, but really think on it. I personally think a 2wd is useless with a loader. You fill that bucket with gravel and the rear tires dont do much, esp if you are on any grade at all where you have to back up.
