Just had a house built in an area with very rocky soil. There are thousands of rocks in the soil and I’d like to remove most of them before I have some topsoil brought in. 90% of them are baseball size and smaller. There are a few big ones that I can just use my hands to move. I’m pretty close to final grade so I want to avoid cutting/filling. Once the topsoil is brought in I will be at final grade. I have an L2501

I 2nd the landscape rake.... even though I'm making a 'rock bucket' for my BX23S. Simple design, 2 sections of 'steel steps'(1x3" grate) to make a 2'x4' sieve, welded to SSQA plate, with exp metal sides. Now if (when ??) it gets cooler,a LOT cooler, I'll build it.

A potato-picker would remove all potato-sized rocks very nicely. :)

They do make rock-sorting implements but it may not be worth BUYING one. For most folks, leasing one for awhile is less expensive and you often end up using a higher-quality implement. (so the job gets done faster)

My land looks like that and i was out with the rake today. Got a lot of them out but more to do.

I just made a bucket like you describe jay. I used some 1" bar grate i had but it didn't get the dirt to sift thru. I am thinking I might cut some of the bars to get it to 2" space by bending them and welding to the remaining ones. I have clay soil here that doesn't sift well, like concrete when dry and quick sand when heavy rain.

I thought I had a couple pictures but can't find them.

Hire someone with a power thingy on a skid steer that busts up dirt clods and puts the rocks in a bin that can be dumped in a pile somewhere. Can't remember the name of the attachment. Like a harley rake but it collects the rocks instead of windrowing them.

Soil preparater or something like that. Yeah they work great on a skid steer.

My rototiller is great at finding rocks lol. If I was dealing with that. I’d try to build or buy a rock bucket.

Hire or rent a Harley rake to get them put into winrows so you can pick them up.
