You see some Stiegers on the West coast but they are faded green now.

They're mostly that way everywhere unless they've been babied or repainted. Steiger got bought out in the 80's. IIRC, Versatile got bought out at about the same time.

Versatile 1150 back in the '80's. It was rated at 400 drawbar horsepower and was a fairly large tractor in its day. Pulled a 60' chisel.

Neighbor has an 875 Versatile. Nice machine, and ‘80’s vintage.

You occasionally see a Steiger in this area, but not common.

Interesting read. Back in the 80's or so Versatile was bought out by Ford New Holland, so there were blue Versatile's driving around. They guy who rents my parents' property is a hard core John Deere guy, but he switched to a Ford New Holland for his big tillage tractor. I assumed it was a Versatile, but it turns out it may be a Steiger, depending on the year.

I grew up in Fargo. Those big Steigers made for good jobs for many. They were big even if they were "local". ;-)

Last summer I was out in the Dakotas a bit with relatives. A couple of my cousins run big acreage.

Imagine if this "little Tractor forum fielded questions on those modern machines....

"My tractor won't start, I turn the key, and the computer wont even boot up."

Yep! The things drive themselves if you let 'em.
