What’s your rain count?

It’s been a wet August. For the week we are at 7.5” and close to 9” for the month. Feels more like early May than August.
How has everyone been doing with these storms?

We were in semi-drought until the end of June, blue berries were real slow to ripen, just picking the last of them now. We're at 150% of normal for the year now, mother natural seems to be bipolar.

It rained yesterday for the first time since May. Put down .33" per the National Weather Service. That makes just over 4" of precipitation since the first of the year.

The Davis shows 3.95" for the year here (NE Wyo). Doesn't count snow of which we had very little of. May here looked like August. The only thing green is what we water. Horrible fire season, but we've been lucky here so far.

NWS recording station noted significantly less than 1/2 seasonal "normal". Property is miles away. So far, August is zero rain. August is usually our driest month. IIRC, total of 7 inches June through July. April and May were below normal. The good is no mosquitos. You can enjoy the hours around sunrise and sunset without a bite. The bad is. One spark from nature or a butt head will result in a major forest fire. Oak trees are dropping their acorns. Too early. Tiniest acorns I've ever seen.

Lake Superior is on the low side. There is a man made bird sanctuary. End "footings" of an old iron ore dock in the town across the Bay. Normally it just sits ~1-2 feet above Lake level. Looks to be about 3 feet or more above water level. Supposed it take 500 billion gallons of water to raise L.Superior water level one inch. Snowmelt season was ideal in terms of minimal run off and silting. That and below normal rainfall all contribute to lower than seasonal normal Lake level.

We've had one rain since end of may and that one wasn't a lot of water.
One severely dry winter, spring and summer.

We have had 26.91” of rain and snow melt since January 1 of this year. This is according to my Davis electronic rain gauge that keeps records.

My old rain weather station went out back in late June so I lost my spring totals. We are in a loop with daily storms. Gladly share a few inches

South of me in the Winamac, IN area, they have gotten close to 20" of rain in the last 10 days. They have terrible flooding, and may get more rain tomorrow.

Right now we are about 10 inches above normal for the year, at least its not snow ! And right now we are under another flood watch until 0800 Monday

Between snow and rain since January we're just over 24" in Malpeque, PE.

We dodged the storms and tornados last night. New line building in today. I did get out and mow where it wasn’t standing water.

It's powder dry here in East Tx and no rain in the fore cast. Cattlemen are already feeding hay as the grass is gone.

Somehow our land has been in a rain void here in NC. 1/4 mile in any direction has had decent rain while we have had zero for many weeks now. We were in Exceptional Drought classification, but have been upgraded two notches to Severe Drought, despite no rain. The garden's looking rough, the natural springs are putting out a lot less water and the pond out back is down a few feet, lower than I've seen it in 20+ years here.

On the positive side, the storms get so close, that it gets breezy and cools off 15 degrees, so the afternoons have been decently pleasant to do some yard work. Busted out the BH and dug up a lot of rocks this past weekend in preparation for filling, smoothing and seeding the lawn in a month or two.
