What’s your rain count?

It’s been a wet August. For the week we are at 7.5” and close to 9” for the month. Feels more like early May than August.
How has everyone been doing with these storms?

We were in semi-drought until the end of June, blue berries were real slow to ripen, just picking the last of them now. We're at 150% of normal for the year now, mother natural seems to be bipolar.

It rained yesterday for the first time since May. Put down .33" per the National Weather Service. That makes just over 4" of precipitation since the first of the year.

The Davis shows 3.95" for the year here (NE Wyo). Doesn't count snow of which we had very little of. May here looked like August. The only thing green is what we water. Horrible fire season, but we've been lucky here so far.

NWS recording station noted significantly less than 1/2 seasonal "normal". Property is miles away. So far, August is zero rain. August is usually our driest month. IIRC, total of 7 inches June through July. April and May were below normal. The good is no mosquitos. You can enjoy the hours around sunrise and sunset without a bite. The bad is. One spark from nature or a butt head will result in a major forest fire. Oak trees are dropping their acorns. Too early. Tiniest acorns I've ever seen.

Lake Superior is on the low side. There is a man made bird sanctuary. End "footings" of an old iron ore dock in the town across the Bay. Normally it just sits ~1-2 feet above Lake level. Looks to be about 3 feet or more above water level. Supposed it take 500 billion gallons of water to raise L.Superior water level one inch. Snowmelt season was ideal in terms of minimal run off and silting. That and below normal rainfall all contribute to lower than seasonal normal Lake level.
