That is similar to what the first owner of my L3800 did. New at machinery, he picked up a mobile home axle and, for some reason, ran the FEL to the top. When the loader hit its upper stop, the whole axle came over the back of the FEL and one end hit the hood and the other end cracked the roof. Without that roof, he would have been seriously injured.

Sad. It happened within the first 100 hours.

"Sad. It happened within the first 100 hours."

That's when the operator is unconsciously incompetent. He's doing something and doesn't know why or how. There are four steps in the learning process. At some point one becomes consciously incompetent. (That's where he should be as he walked out of the structure.) He realizes he doesn't know what he's doing.

Then after some proper information and good coaching he becomes consciously competent. Knows how to do it, and feels good about doing it. And after hours of things going good he becomes unconsciously competent. This is when he doesn't check things, just knows everything is fine, and has another accident!

It's easy to see this procedure when you relate it to learning to drive a stick shift auto.

Stay in the consciously competent and you'll be safer!

I've watched this video a few times and thought about it. I think this whole thing might be a picture taking scam.

Would an I beam be setting on wall without any anchor? If a 20' I beam fell on a person's back from 8' above would the person be able to get from under it and walk away? Just guessing, if it is an 8' beam, probably weighs 20#/ft.

Why was someone taking a picture? Why did he walk bent over until he's out of the camera view? I think realistically, he'd have gotten off the tractor (presuming he could) take a few steps and fall down from pain and knowing he was free from further danger. I don't know...I just might have to call BS!

I was kind of thinking the same thing.
