What's next? Banning common sense in daily life?

I am at a loss for words...and realize this seems to be a political post, but really it is a post related to common sense in daily life.

Gas power leaf blowers are banned starting this new year? How much impact can these things have compared to gas powered vehicles? Gas powered lawn mowers...etc, etc...

Apparently this law had delayed implementation and came into effect with the new year.

For residents of Washington, DC, it's gas-powered leaf blowers.
A regulation passed in 2018 outlaws the use of the tools by residents and landscapers, and carries fines of up to $500.

My better judgement told me not to post this, but it is just such a crazy thing I could not help myself...

Crazy is just beginning my friend, talk to me in another year or so...thank goodness I didn't put the money down on that gas powered toothbrush. Notice I put goodness instead of God because we should all know by now God is a bad word for some people.

Only going to get worse as stupid people with NO CFS vote in more and more of these Whackos who take advantage of the "green" movement to find more and more things to tax us on. I struck California off our travel list when we vacation since they no longer allow the use of generators. How else can I charge the batteries in the RV? Solar is only good for so much, and they don't run the AC unit either. Not only that, but they would probably ban my truck from entering the state because it is a 10 YO Diesel.

On an aside, the reason may possibly be that the gas leaf blowers just make too much noise, and why they were targeted, and not because they are gas powered. The new Lithium battery powered ones are quieter, but still annoying.

I was looking at airflights and noticed that some sites now post the 100s of KGs of CO2 the plane will create during the flight !!!
Got me wondering how many daily flights are there in say USA or Canada and the TOTAL MILLIONS of CO2 created by them...
oh yeah ,car gas went up 10c due to the Trudeau Carbo Tax grab.. I KNEW I should have filled up last year...

So glad we are in the mountains, unincorporated outside all cities, miles away from civilization. No one would hear my gas stuff anyway!

Honestly though my Milwaukee M18 leaf blower is more than adequate. Most of the battery blowers on the market are just fine for DC homeowners. Not sure I agree on the landscaping companies though.

Yeah but we're not laughing now, global warming is real and is not going away on it's own. The cost of solar power is still high, too high especially for someone my age where it could take up to 20 years to break even...damn I could be dead before it's paid for.

Worse yet, solar doesn't solve your power issue. It only helps when the Sun is shining.

Yes and no, they have come a long way with solar, far more efficient than what it used to be but lets not for forget the amount of fossil fuel it take to create all the panels and batteries and all the other components needed. No easy answers as far as I can see but if you think about it how many of us actually need a 400HP pickup sitting in their driveway. Hey don't get me wrong, in my books you can never have too much HP but at what cost? If you can't see what's happing in the world right now well you have your head buried in the sand?

In Australia, the cost would be between $5000 &$6000. Now if you ask why so great a difference, it is in both the mark up of the companies doing the work and the municipality and state permitting fees that they never discuss with the customer.

Let's not forget the all powerful oil companies keeping renewable energy prices out of reach for common folk like you and I. And this is just my sceptic mind thinking that there may be just a little kick back for both our ever trustful governments if they look the other way. I'll stop there because I really don't want to get into the conspiracy theories because that could lead us all down a dark road. All in all this is a hard problem to solve however if we don't, well let's just say if you think times are tough now the future could be unimaginable and before you all jump on me remember this is JMHO, take it for what it's worth.

There is nothing humans can do to counteract the effects of mother nature. We can fight her and temporarily win small battles, like tilling the land and mowing the lawn, but we must constantly keep fighting to keep her at bay. Eventually she wins because she never surrenders.

I moved to the suburbs from the city about 5 years ago seeking better schools and expecting peace and solitude. I will say that between the lawn mowing , leaf blowing , and weed eating gas powered machines it has been a real eye opener. I never expected as noisy an environment as this. I contribute more than a little to the cacophony. I find it all annoying and would welcome an alternative. Happy New Year everyone.

I live in a kind of residential neighborhood, although the only house close is a couple hundred feet away. The rest are maybe a thousand feet or so. Maybe 800 feet? Never cared.

Anyway, I remember a friend stopping by, and commenting on the neighbor's tractor noise when he was cutting grass. Amazingly, I never noticed it. Just thought it was the way things worked I guess.

Accept that I am a weirdo...Just me...
