Some people ‘round here say we have 2 seasons; Winter and the 4th of July......

You guys talking about it being hot outside, made me think of days gone by. It brought to mind one time I was helping Uncle Joe bale and we can back to the house for lunch, and it was hot I mean hells gate hot! And I said something to the effect I wonder how hot it is after my 3rd or 4th glass of water. Now Uncle Joe was a big man and always had a smile on his face and joke up his sleeve. He said comon I will show you how hot it is. He got an egg and we went out side where there was an old junked dark blue Merc. He cracked the egg on the hood and I watched it cook! I dont know what I said but he thought it was funny as all get out :)

RCW looks nice, what kind if you don't mind me asking?

I grow Honey Select a yellow corn each year changing up next year.
Jay - - not sure. Generically we call it butter and sugar.
There’s several farmers within 5 miles that grow corn for their stands so I don’t have to worry about growing my own.

Creature Meadow, if you are thinking of changing varieties, I recommend SS27 R 42 F1 (sh2) a hybrid bicolor sugary enhanced that I get from Johnny's seeds. It makes nice big ears, and most important for my little garden, I get nearly 100% germination. Most other kinds including the old standbys didn't germinate well and some springs we have cold soil which corn doesn't like. The flavor is fantastic. I have had good luck with all their seeds.

Thanks for the suggestion, I get great germination and 2 ears per stalk. Our problem here in NC is rain! I have a well I use to water, 156 feet deep so I can run it from Friday until Sunday night with no problems. Only used for garden, washing stuff etc.
