Our 4th was Flags, Family Fun, and Drum Chicken:
IMG_7875.JPG

16 chicken halves marinated.
IMG_7878.JPG

Seasoned and added hooks.
IMG_7879.JPG

And hung over rods.
IMG_7882.JPG

And covered with plywood for 3 1/2 hours.
IMG_7885.JPG

Yup, they are ready.
IMG_7887.JPG

Pulled the halves apart and placed in a styro cooler.
IMG_7888.JPG

And sausage off of the grill for appetizers.

Yesterday, the kids were scattered doing there own thing. So today we are having our family gathering to celebrate the 4th 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Fired up the smoker about an hour ago. Got two 5lb chuck roasts on there that have been marinating since Friday. Pulled beef for dinner tonight with corn on the cob and pasta salad.

We also have some great news we've been waiting to tell since fathers day 😁😁😁😁 Our daughter informed us she was pregnant with her first child. So, at the end of January, we'll be up to 3 grandkids 😎😎😎😎

Only 84 here, with 4000% humidity. Teleworking in the A/C all day, didn't get a chance to get tuckered out. I have some light tractor work to do, but it'll be there when I get around to it.

Don't see how you guys stand it. I perpetually stink right now. Nightly showers are sop.

Not at all used to this weather. In fact, don't remember it being this hot and dry for so long.

Temps in the shop are typically in the 100s this time of year and high humidity. Not much airflow through the shop except for the storms the past couple days, cools it off for a little bit then raises the humidity. I lived in Illinois and Wisconsin, I’ll take these summers over those winters.

Being retired, I don't mind the winters any more. I don't have to get up an 5am and deal with bad roads to get to work and then deal with them again driving the big truck hauling iron. Now, I can sit and have my coffee in front of the fire and watch it snow.

Not right now however. Iced coffee maybe.... :p

Our big black pup (pictured) has the routine down pat. Walk him in the morning before it gets too hot, he lays around all day in front of the big box fan, eats his dinner and about 20 minutes later has to go out front in the fenced yard, wee wee and do potty and then comes right in the house and heads for the bedroom. The bedroom has ac and we leave it on all day turned down so it's cool for him when he retires at between 7 and 7:15 pm, every night, just like clockwork. pretty smart pup...

Nice teeth huh? Big baby....

Thanks all. The party is over so I spent this entire morning getting my concealed carry permit renewed. Thankfully it is good for 5 years.

Low and slow pork butt, around 9 pounds. Took about 11 hours, fell apart onto my plate.
