What were you able to do with your kubota that surprized you?

Get my 16 year old grandson interesting in the farm and him learning to use a tractor and grapple. He is really getting proficient with the grapple. Great to have opportunity to work with him and help teach him such skills and building those bonds.

Some years ago, my neighbor's kid high centered his dad's F150 on a big rock at the end of the drive and couldn't get it off so I put my forks on, went over and lifted the F150 off the rock and set it in the drive.

I was amazed it would pick it up, but it did. Of course I told his dad I wasn't responsible for any damage underneath but there wasn't any.

M9000 with the standard loader. It's rated for 2500 pounds. I suspect the 150 was a bit more.

Move quite a few full pallets around all the time and they weigh a ton each.

I built a rock retaining wall, doug the rocks out of the woods, one 4’ was buried so deep i had no idea of its size, it took a gd days work to get it up on solid ground, i wrapped it multiple times with a tow strap snd chain and drug it about 200 yds sum uphill and the ground was wet, after multiple attempts i shoved it into its final resting place, actually there were 2 rocks that size, i drug and piled rocks for a week, then i used my forks and a tow strap to make a sling to pick up the rocks and place them on the wall, it was a u shaped wall about 5’ tall and a total of 40’ it was a good week and a half of work. Many finger owies.

Earlier this week I dug up a rock in my front yard that has been bothering me for years. Just a little bit was showing. It wasn't until I started digging with the backhoe that I saw just how big the boulder was. Took me a good 4 hours to excavate the boulder. I shruggingly finally got the boulder to balance in/on the front end loader of my B2650. Moved the boulder about 100' from it's original spot into the woods. Now, who has free clean fill?

I haven't had my tractor long enough to have it do anything to surprise me. I have been confident in its abilities.

But, what I have done with it has made me happy because I never could do the tasks on my own or it would have been an exercise in futility to try.

I cut down a dead hickory tree in the yard two days ago. With the tractor and grapple, I was able to finish the job that day, half a day actually. Without it, it would have been a two day job minimum.

I was surprised to get all the things fixed on it the previous owner and his pet mice either deliberately hid or ate and find it’s actually a damm good tractor.

This little lawnmower BX 2360 has pulled more wood out of the woods, pulled a rear blade and drag up and down the drive way, moved more stone, mowed down big old wild rose bushes, pushed dead falls and mowed 5 acres of grass better and faster than the old yellow tractor ever thought of doing! Lawn mower,,, yeah right

Dug an entire house foundation with our Kubota, some places were 4+ feet below grade, 6 foot wide trench, level to within 1/2"

My wife is now thinking the Kubota isn't such a play toy after all.

Got stuck to the axles in boggy mud just after the ground thawed this spring while trying to get close to some firewood logs with my forklift. Went in fine, lowered the forks and loaded them up with poplar logs. The instant I tried backing out with the load the front sank, and being stubborn trying to get out, the rear too. Finally dumped the poplar logs (about time - duh!) but it seemed too late. I had the wood chipper on the back instead of the backhoe, so no help there. Stuck in a wet spot in my yard, with 4wd and rear diff lock both engaged!

Then the surprise - used the forklift pointed straight down (nearly fully dumped) and lower the boom - they stabbed into the ground only so far, then I could lift the front of the tractor up, stomped the difflock, and back up out of the rear ruts a half foot at a time, while curling the forks up a bit. Lower the front, pull the forks out, reset them in a new spot, and go again. Nice.

Got it stuck in mud almost to the front axle. Couldn’t back up ...the ag tires just spun.
Lowered the FEL bucket to the point the front tires were no longer deeper than the surrounding ground.... used the bucket bottom as a “skid” ...to support the front-end....and backed it right out of the mudhole. Whew!

About 4 years ago I received a quote from a contractor, to excavate along one basement wall re-seal it, install footing tile, and back fill with stone. The wall was about 50' long and 8' deep.
So I bought a used B26 and dug it out over a weekend. I also had to remove a 16'x20' concrete patio that was in the way. The backhoe would easily pry up sections and allow me to break them up.
I am truly amazed what a 24 hp tractor is capable of!

Curious if you ended up spending less on the B26 TLB than the contractor quoted? That would be sweet. But even if not, the machine is still there, doing other expensive-to-contract stuff.

The contractor quoted $40K in 2017 if he could save the block wall. I spent $20K on the B26 and I have used it since on dozens of projects.
I look at tractor house magazine every week to stay current on used equipment prices. I bet that I could still get at least $18K for it, if I wanted to sell. So, I'm very pleased with the investment.

I was not surprised that it picked it up.. but that it almost picked the back wheels of the ground..

This is a 1963 onan 7.6 jb that weighs in at just under 800 pounds with the cart.. dosen't help the heavy cast iron and copper generator end is furthest out
