What is this piece of metal in my hydraulic filter?

That piece is 3/4" long and has a chamfer on both ends. Doesn't look like it broke off of anything. Looks like something that fell into the system by accident.

It is definitely a tooth off a gear in the transmission section. As has been stated if the parking mechanism locks into one of the countershaft gaers

One other thing comes to mind, is it possible that some used hydraulic fluid was added at anytime in it's life.
Or was it in for repairs anytime in it's life?
At about 60 hours I was using a PTO mulcher and it threw a limb into the belly causing a huge hemorrhage. I immediately stopped the tractor and had a friend look under it while I bumped the starter. A banjo type fitting had come loose and that's where it was spraying from.

I tightened up the fitting and topped it off with tractor supply universal fluid, but only enough to get it to the barn and on the trailer.

It went straight to the dealer where they repaired the damage, flushed the entire system and refilled it with UDT-II and replaced the filters. It's been seemingly fine since then.

hmm, good more pictures, different angles
someone's going to have a 'hands on education' tearing the tractor down to replace the busted gear ! Hope you take LOTS of pictures and report back WHICH gear it is.

Agreed it's definitely a gear tooth but from the looks of it, it has very minimal wear on it. Doesn't look like it has 400+ hours on it. I think it broke off a long time ago.

My M7060HDC12 has 432 hours and I blew a hydraulic hose (cheap factory Gates) and since my tractor is almost 500 hours, I went ahead and did a hydraulic fluid/filter replacement.

When I took off one of the filters, this piece of metal was stuck to one of the magnets.

It kind of looks like a tooth off a ring gear.

What do y'all think?
What did you find out on this ?

By the way it's sitting in picture #2, it looks like it is" cut into" the gasket. Is this the first change of that filter? Maybe it came to be there during factory assembly. Just sayin'

Yes not what I wanted to find , that crud is small metel filings 😰 preowned so don’t know the history hour meter around 800
I would guess that the filters weren't changed at the recommended 500 hours based on your photos. The hydraulic oil is supposed to be changed every 1,000 hours.

The most probable is from gear #70 on the bevel gear parts page; I believe that is the one the park pawl contacts.
I'm kind of hoping that this is the case. As you know, only the M7060 with the F12/R12 transmission has the parking pawl that is engaged via the gear shift lever. The F8/R8 transmission that comes in the M6060/7060 has a simple foot pedal brake along with mechanical brakes rather than hydraulic brakes.

The hydraulic oil was changed at 62 hours and it only had 432 hours on it when this hose busted and I replaced the hose and did a filter/fluid change.

I had an incident at about 60ish hours and the leak was fixed and the fluid/filters changed. This hose went at 432 hours and I lost most of the fluid so another fluid/filter change was done at 432 hours.
