Hauled some logs to the FIL’s to split. Loaded bucket with stuff that I cut a few days ago from a blowdown that happened a few weeks ago.

Be careful you don't cut through the straps your using on the bucket edge.
I have a piece of 2" PVC that's split. Slip it over the edge and it protects the sling.

I had to move Stone Hinge to a different location until ( She ) can figure out it's final resting place...
lol
been there, done that!

I moved 5 large boulders 1000' from the woods behind our house to the top of the driveway. I had just completed 2 planting areas up there and conferred with the boss where she wanted them put. Big mistake not having her be really specific :(

After they were placed she gave them the thumbs down. I had her watch as I repositioned each one.

Had some flooding issues earlier this month....so my neighbor and I put in a third culvert to keep things flowing we hope!
Question.... I have never used a backhoe. Is it standard to lift all the wheels off the ground when using it? Ive seen some other photos of folks and haven't noticed the wheels off the ground.

EDIT: Didn't see someone already asked below your post

Replaced the tiny tool box with one from HF for $7: almost exactly same footprint but about 3 times deeper. Has a tray for pins and smaller containers on lid for even smaller things.

Sorry for the slightly blurry pics. Hope I'm not getting Parkinson's.

Just finished up clearing out from the storm. The snow was really heavy. Had to unclog the chute 6 times and stalled out twice while blowing. I was going slow and at full throttle, but man what a workout. I wound up using the rear blade quite a bit to help with the heavier stuff.

I used the B and the loader to clean up the mess my atv made plowing. Really Stewing over some chains. I just prefer to use the atv…just more than she could handle. Ice reminded me why so many of you operators have chains. I was so jealous i needed a cigar and a bourbon to settle myself down 😉

Finally got to cleaning up the snow. Wet heavy with ice underneath. Lots more bucket work than I was thinking there would be. Two hrs and one good cigar. Done till the next round

Aftermath…battery tender back on.
Like everyone else, moved some snow. Ate some of it.

All went fine.

We had 2-3” of hard ice and sleet with 3” snow on top.

Did use back blade a little; made it pretty, but it was a smooth slick mess. Put it away quickly. Above freezing next week, better to leave some on it. Maybe I’ll scrape it on a thawing day, but I need a good base on my gravel driveway.

Wow - - that's just astounding! It was higher last week....

I've seen drifting like that and more, but not in front of the ingress/egress from a house.

Do you think there's a way snow fence could help?

It really is a safety concern. Hoping it's an anomaly.

You do a great job digging yourself out! 🤞 :)
This is our fourth winter here and we never had snow build up like that before last week. Fortunately, we still have four other doors we can get in and out of. I'll have to make a point to go out more often and check for build-up.

Good to hear it's unusual.

Maybe look around and see how the drifts have been forming. Any new construction or modifications done outside?

Maybe a way to mitigate the drifting? Like I said, snow fence can do wonders....

My grandparent's farm was right at the top of a hill. Drifting was common all over, including the road getting there...

They had a chicken house below the house 50 yards away.

Saw drifts there that were taller than the peak of the CH. Maybe 15-18 feet.

Odd thing was you could always open the CH door...about a 10-20 foot gap around the chicken house that snow was swept out of.

Hey neighbor, You got the same mess I did, I had to use the 8N with the front blade raised up a couple inches first passes. Then redo it with it down to get it cleaned up. That thaw was a real pain as I had a nice surface on my stone till that,

Bill

Today was the first time I thought about chains. Last year we didn’t have the ice under the snow. I may hit Greene and Sons in Broadway tomorrow to see what they can get. Skipped the Bourbon today for a barrel aged Porter at Roundhouse Depot Brewing in Bellefontaine this evening

There is something different. I cleaned up the fence line in the fall that was full of bush and it was too late to plant trees. That's exactly why the snow drifting is coming across the driveway.
