Today I got a start on my 'round 1' of plantings. I have 16 plants to put on one side of the driveway near the street. 8 of them are large box plants. For the backyard I have 8 butterfly bushes but they are in 1 gal pots so easy to plant.
With the PHD and 12" flight the tractor did most of the work. The burlapped box balls are about 14-16" so I dug a little deeper with the auger and filled in my digging out the sides. Managed to get 4 in today but tomorrow is a washout :(
I also have to rip out the old plastic landscape separator - partly exposed in pix. Was really careful to stay away from the red paint/flags that Call Before You Dig left. Was only going down less than 2 ' so not much of a chance of hitting anything - they are down 3-4 feet.

I use a stump bucket for shrubs, the auger really makes short work of it, that came out great CT.

Well, ya have to work with the tools ya have :)
My kids already think I'm crazy with the amount of implements I'm accumulating. You just need the right tool for the right job. I just ordered a subsoiler and have looked at a stump bucket.
I just don't know how well a stump bucket will do in our potato rich soil. It's easy to tell when the PHD hits one though - it starts jumping around. I was lucky there was nothing very big and the auger extracted the ones it hit.

Nice.. looks like you used a backhoe! You mind telling me which stump bucket you have? I’m thinking it’s my next purchase besides a box blade.

It is the mini stump bucket by Artillian, it's an inexpensive add-on when you are buying their grapple. However, without the grapple it probably doesn't make sense, as the frame price is outrageous. It is a perfect size for a bx though.

Used to pallet forks to take the box blade out of the shed and put the blower in its place. Put the bucket on a storage rack in the garage with the snow pusher and then put the grapple on.

Changed mower blades and gave the radiator a good cleaning. I always do the first mow of the year with last year's blades and then change them with a newly sharpened set.

Thank you sir, I’ll look into it. Most of the ones I’ve seen are one piece, are you saying the mounting plate is also used for the grapple?

yes, you buy their ssqa plate + the grapple configuration you desire, which adds up. but one nice thing is you can add the little stump bucket for only $300. This played a big part when i chose the artillian system. (not sure i would do it again though)

tree season again... high winds === broken dead trees.

cut 3 down & used my grabber to pick em up & carry em to the burn pile. after that: ran over all the ground moles tunnels in the yard & smashed them back down.

then after 6pm at burn time... worked the burn pile till it was gone with the bucket.

not sure if planning on using it today counts... I have move my BH about 4' over from where its currently sitting, think its possible to do that with the loader?? counter weight would be my BB on the 3pt. Pretty flat ground and the rear tires on the tractor wont even me leaving the gravel driveway.

They are! after planting 30 arborvitaes, I was pretty disappointed a few years later. Maintenance, bugs, deer will taste test them thinning them out, and rub their heads on them  leaning them over... Then discovered Schip Laurel, could not be happier. They stay green, full, and totally deer proof. I wish I had learned about them sooner. These have been planted for about 7 months, keeping my fingers crossed as I am not really a green thumb.
