Got some mowing done. My wife thinks I'm crazy for keeping the FEL attached when I mow - am I the only one?

Well as a follow up to breaking my second rim...this happened a day later... bottom part of the tie rod bolt sheered off...

Why I keep a spare tire and front rim for my BX25D...got another 120' of fence stretched...all set for another 330' roll tomorrow.
The good news is I was expecting this... actually I was expecting the knuckle to pull out of the socket...it had an 1/8 play...which might have not helped the rim.

What I forgot was the castle nut...but I borrowed one from elsewhere...not a castle...but good enough for a week while waiting for Messicks.

And a side note...K1253-16602...the part I had in stock...was superceded by an 03 model... allegedly for the 23... hopefully the made the rubber bootie thicker...then again...what was the difference between 01 and 02?

Hope everyone else keeps stashes of parts...

Cleaning up the woods behind my shed. Lot of sapling removal, tree limbing stump removal and general walk about and get rocks, big limbs etc picked up before I could bush hog. Had to remove 5 4x12 cut wood racks I had made out of pallets (hindsight was not a good idea for a wood rack). Still got some debris to scoop up and move to the burn pile from the wood racks. Before and after picts:

Over the weekend I used the backhoe attachment to rip out an old skim coat of concrete about 2-4" thick. It wasn't reinforced, so just lifted up a slab at a time and dropped it. There's a ravine at the back of the property I will fill in with it, and then I can pour a new proper concrete slab where the old stuff is coming out.

Had a little rain last night, so the berms were soft enough to roll some gravel back up on the road with the landscape rake. Then changed out to the brush hog and did a quick pass along the weedy shoulders, and some of the back lot. Its still real dry here, so the weeds wont be much of a problem this year, but I just had to fire it up and play a little.

Greased the old hog, blew out the radiator with the Radiator Genie wands and parked it when it til the next time. Whoop, Whoop!

What I DIDN'T do on my tractor the last couple days is work on my 1/4 mile trail through the quakies, it's totally finished. The wood chips make a great walking or fat tire bike surface, like walking on a plush carpet. This was a pretty huge project and I got obsessed with wrapping it up before it got too hot and I guess I pulled it off. It will be easy to maintain as I now can get in there with my ATV, tractor, or mini excavator. Before, it was a jumbled mess of deadfall with zero access. Future improvements will be a park bench at the halfway point (as soon as I find one I can steal, just kidding) some small off shoots from the main trail, and a continuing stock of deer baiting blocks (I don't hunt, just like to have them around, they seem to enjoy the things) scattered along the trail. Thank you Kubota mini X U 25s and L3301 for making this possible!

Last night I put a new culvert under the driveway. At the very end of my trench I hit a little nugget - about 700lbs. Couldn't lift it out of the hold with the backhoe, so a few wraps of chain and lifted it out with the bucket. It will now become a landscape feature somewhere in the yard. I'm really surprised I only hit one - A few years ago I put in 90 feet of perimeter drain and had 4 yards of 100+lb rocks in that area of the yard.

I spent a few more hours last week clearing an area behind the house of stumps and rocks including this one. I had to dig it completely out and could only get it to roll one way about the length of the tractor.

I wish you could send some of that rain my way so that I had some grass to cut. I have only mowed my lawn 3 times this year and it is now mostly Brown. Usually this time of year I have to mow it every 5-7 days. This drought is really restricting my tractor time.

I was in the Big City the other day and stopped by the E-Z-Go golf cart place. I got a canopy and am going to make brackets and install it on my neighbors tractor.

Last weekend it was finally time to set the Chicken Coop in place.
I started building it back in October.

Finished removing the bamboo roots from our property today. My first tractor work, 17 hrs - 5/8 tank of fuel (8.4 gallons). Took 3 weeks working 2-3 hours a day, starting at 5 a.m. to avoid the desert heat! I learned that my loader rock bucket is an excellent tool to pick roots out of the dirt piles and also an excellent ground rake to smooth out the dirtl!

It's 24 hour daylight and everything is growing like crazy. My South pasture has grown and it's time for a trim. 80 degrees out there (sweltering for us). I brought out the old B7100 and 48" brush hog. Got 5 of the 10 acres mowed. Lower portion is too wet still. Heres a coule pics my son took. That tractor is so small compared to the 3901 and I definitely don't like the Armstrong steering. Fun beast. 40 years old this year and still going.
