The clevis pin at the lower arm may need to be installed from the inside? It looks like the stabilizer arm may try to drive it out and bend up the hairpin?

Good catch. Hasn't been a problem but easy to fix.

Why do you have quick connections at the cylinder? I assume you don’t really need them there since you will just remove the whole cylinder and the hoses together as a unit VERY infrequently.

Mostly to adapt to the remote connectors.

I think moving the 90 degree fittings to the cylinder might help with the hoses together routing. I think I went with at least one at the cylinder to keep the hoses away from the rear tire.

There are 90's at the cylinder. The 90's at the remote are for the hoses to the front of the tractor. They'll be stowed in the keepers I'm working on and the hydraulic top link will be connected there when in use.

Overhauling my deck lately. I would have used the LX more if it had a higher reach to put some of the heavier lumber and structure up. But I was relegated to ratchet straps and a little redneck ingenuity. Main deck is done now but the stairs have to be replaced as well. So I used the LX to lift the old framing out yesterday after stripping most of the treads and toe kicks off. Still nearly 350 pounds of material in the frame. The stringers are 14’ 2x12’s. I just built the deck 7 years ago and all of it was YellaWood PT ground contact rated lumber. The cut stringers rotted at nearly every step to some degree, but the other two (outside) didn’t, nor did the blocking or the treads or the toe kicks. Just the two middle stringers rotted. I also had 1 joist of 14 rot right in the middle of the deck and the weird part about that is that it gets a lot of sun in that spot which should keep it fairly dry. I extended it another 4 feet on the cantilever and added 6x6 kicks and gussets to add a little more beef to the support beam and posts. I built 3 backbone structures to center under the herringbone center boards which basically put 4 2x8 joists in a 16” spacing to stiffen the overhang. The kicks support the corners and center and the gussets support two of the backbones like another post under the beam. I won’t say it can’t go anywhere, but I can probably just go get it and bring it back if it does get taken by a tornado. Stainless steel through and through except the powder coated lags in the big stuff and a few hot dip galvanized bolts in the support beam. I tend to overbuild. The stairs are 48” wide, so that’s why 4 stringers. If I hadn’t taken a couple of the treads off, I’d probably never noticed the two middle ones were rotting. Even without any support posts, they were very solid.

I finished up a sawmilling job yesterday but again, my fascination was with my customer's nifty BX2350:

Since I got the tractor (I am second owner) there was a ding in the hood. I got rid of the dent as best as I could but the paint started to crack. I put a dab of paint to protect it over winter but wanted to fix it properly or well close to properly.

Love the Kubota paint. I taped the area off and gave it several light coats and one wet coat. It says after 24 hours it can be buffed. I have some cars before and came out pretty well blending. Just gonna lightly wet sand it with my 3000 grit and then polish/buff it.

Hopefully it will come out well, I don't need it to be perfect, it's a tractor not a classic car. But I certainly didn't want rust to start under the paint and spread and get worse so I fixed it. This Kubota paint is good stuff, pretty rugged it seems.

Well that's all I did with the tractor today.

Got 20 yards of "dirt cheap" dirt yesterday delivered. Getting some more this morning once the rain stops. It was pretty moist soil but it spread okay. I'm going to need probably another 20 yards. This stuffed packed really hard but going to let it dry out and do some finishing touches later, perhaps even next year. But yeah, it made a huge difference. It was fun getting to do some loader work! I need all the experience I can get. Who doesn't love playing in dirt?!

Used the L3901DT and the landplane to work on the private road. I worked on two different areas. I would have gotten more done, but two of my neighbors stopped to talk. We had gotten a little less then an inch of rain a couple of days ago, but it is still a little dry here. So what I did might not last long.

Summer is coming to an end and since NAPA had ELC on sale for less than $10/gallon I bought four gallons for the M6060 and MX6000 in preparation for cooling system preventative maintenance. Thanks again to @The Evil Twin for recommending two tools that have been proven to be outstanding. I've used the EWK on various vehicles as well as the Yamaha outboard to suck out oil and coolant, and also to generate vacuum in combination with the Schwaben coolant vacuum fill tool when doing coolant exchanges.

I also took the time to thoroughly flush out fins on the A/C condenser, oil cooler, and radiator as well as clean all screens and the outer air filter.

Here's the process.

1. Remove radiator cap
2. Open radiator drain to drain coolant, close when finished
3. Use EWK to draw coolant out of the expansion tank
4. Connect Schwaben vacuum fill tool to EWK and to the top of the radiator and draw a vacuum (~600 mm/Hg)
5. Turn valve to off position on vacuum fill tool, disconnect from EWK and connect to suction hose extension
6. Place suction hose extension into new coolant container and open valve
7. Once radiator is full disconnect vacuum fill tool and reinstall radiator cap
8. Fill expansion tank
9. Run engine and check coolant level when appropriate

Does that system get any of the sediment up from the bottom?

Or are you just using the suction to transfer the new fluid?

All of the coolant with the exception of the expansion tank is removed via the drain at the bottom of the radiator. The EWK is used to draw a vacuum on the cooling system and new coolant is drawn into the radiator via the pressure differential.

It's such a good system that makes this sort of maintenance very easy.

I was with my brother today and I noticed he uses the glow plugs to start his B2601 everytime. With my L2501, I never really use the glow plugs (except when it's really cold lol. Should I be? Everytime I turn the key the tractor starts up instantly with like little to no smoke or hesitation, even when it's been sitting for a month it's like it was ran yesterday.

Do some engines just start better with glow plugs and some only need it when it's really cold? Now my garage is heated...it's like 70f during winter.

Just curious what others think.

It's absolutely related to the temperature of the engine block. When it's cold the glow plug indicator lights up in the dash display on both tractors. In warmer months it doesn't. I let the ECU tell me what's needed. It was 37F at the house this morning but when I started the M6060 around 11am it was in the mid 50s and the glow plug light didn't come on when I turned the key to the first position.

Interesting..I'm not sure the L2501 lights up that way. Only time I see that light is when I turn the key to the left. But it's a dumb tractor though, not much for computers on it😅

Interesting. On my L4701, the glow plug indicator light always comes on. The length it’s on for changes, but it never doesn’t come on at all.

Everyone I seen who had a compact tractor as a home owner, they ALL use glow plugs starting it when it like 80f - I feel this is so unnecessary. Even with it being mid 60s, I still think it's plenty warm enough. I just find it so unusual that people use them all the time. I understand back in the day glow plugs even during the summer made larger Diesel trucks start easier but it's not like that anymore.
