I finished up the snow blower repair this morning. There's one more part that was damaged by the previous owner but I need an oxyacetylene setup to heat and hammer the steel back into shape. I don't think it's critical to function so it can wait.
I got a piece of sheet metal cut, welded in and painted and this should be good to go for the season.
You can see the damage to the end of the support, but like I said, it's not critical to function, just aesthetically challenging.
I'd forgotten how mangled the triangular piece of sheet metal was but these Craigslist photos show a significant "bubble". I must have hammered it back to some form of decent shape before I started using it. The bottom photo was taken the day I got it home and the damage is obvious. I think the previous owner sucked up a big rock or similar.
