What block heater, where to buy?

Im up in Maine and have a L345DT. When it gets below about 40 its a little hard to start. even running glow plugs for 60 seconds, its still stumbles and sputters for a bit.

Im thinking a block heater might help and found a freezeplug heater that says it will work with my rig.
Is this what i want or is there something better?

I have a similar block heater and they work well. As mentioned above, some kubotas require a bushing that replaces a freeze plug (mine did). Some kubotas have a 3/4” threaded port on the block, but I have no idea which ones.
The Kubota OEM heaters are actually reasonably priced so I just got one from the dealer.

I live where it gets to be -45%F the absolute best for the buck is an inline circulating heater. it goes into the rubber hose and works extremely well. In Canada they are available nearly everywhere.

Exactly. I used high temp LocTite on the last 2 bushings I installed and no problems. The freeze plug removal can be intimidating (for me anyway) but they eventually give.

Normally I would 100% agree with OEM, but surprisingly these are the same as the OEM heater, they all get them from KATS, as the heaters need to be made to match the countries electrical system and plug, that they are going to be used in.

DO NOT DRILL a hole in the freeze plug to get it out, There are multiple post as to what damage happens to these engines when that happens.
Just knock it on an edge to get it to then and then pull it out.

Use the freeze plug location on the left front, just ahead of the starter.

Update on this:

The block heater works GREAT and I wouldnt be able to start my tractor on these unseasonably COLD days of December without it. Surprisingly the little heater will actually have the head warm to the touch in a few hours.

It had no block heater tho. Has anyone any experience with installing a circulation heater on these tractors?
It gets down to -45 Celsius here. Sometimes colder. My other tractors were easy to put circulating heaters on.
Not much room on the M9550.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

These motors do perfectly fine with a simple block heater, no need for the extra expense or work of installing a recirculating unit.

I called my local Kubota dealership. For a block heater and install will be close to $400.
I can get a new recirculating heater for $100 and plumb it it myself. Just not sure where to run it as the room is less on the 9540 then on my other tractors.

You can get the block heater for about $68 CAD takes less than a min to pop out the plug and pop in the heater, done, no dealer required.

But if you want a recirculating one, go for it, it's about 10 times the work for the same result.

And FYI the block heaters available online are the same one's the dealers going to install.

not trying to be a smartass but you'd be surprised what you can heat up with a light bulb and a horse blanket if properly wrapped. No kidding. Ive seen it done in some aircraft bush operations. But a timer and a ceramic heater with a nice blanket will do wonders. We used more of the electric heat pads that were great . a hair dryer will work in a pinch too. Ive seen guys drain the oil overnight and bring it inside then put it back in the case in the AM to start some planes.
