Water in the cab (L4760 HSC)

Has anyone had the experience of water (presumably rain water) getting into the cab and saturating the cushiony material under the floor mat? I am wondering where it is getting in.

The tractor at issue is an L4760 HSC, 2015. I was close to purchasing it (see the thread labeled "corrosion question" nearby), but have backed off because of my discovery that a monster amout of water is hiding under the floor mat.

I am buying a different L4760 now, and wonder if there is a water ingress issue to watch for.

The glass is probably not sealed well - it happens! Use a hose to put water under pressure against the edges of the glass and see if you can detect a leak. If so, then use a flowable sealant similiar to below and see if that helps. If not, you may have to remove the glass and properly reseal. You can do an internet search to see how the old sealant and glass are removed - for example, dental floss is one method but there are others.

Is it possible someone hosed off the cab floor thinking it would look better for sale? That insulation material can hold water for a long time.

I bet RJcorazza has a really good point. The tech from my dealership keeps telling me how much greater it would be to let them haul my tractor in where it could be powerwashed before servicing. Mine is not all that dirty, and he mentions that, but you can tell they are itching to do it. The only good reason to do more than I can with a garden hose is he mentioned they use an acid (??) solution to get any oil or grease off the fuel lines etc which he said causes them to deteriorate.

Unlikely, seeing as they had not cleaned it at all, 3 and a half weeks after I agreed to purchase it subject to it passing my inspection. Based on corroded parts in the cab, including under the floor mat, I think the problem was of long standing.

Maybe they had hosed it down many months ago, that is a possibility.

Yikes. I wouldn’t trust anyone near my tractor with a pressure washer. I use one (carefully) myself, but no one else!
For getting grease, oil, or diesel off with a garden hose I use a commonly available degreaser call “Oil Eater”. Works great.

If The cab design is anything like the L4740, there is a gap between the glass and firewall/steering area. It’s not sealed in this area and it is possible for water to work it’s way inside and make the floor wet. Not near the tractor or I’d take a picture and show the area. Just look at cab area below the wiper and between the hood.

Also check that the seals are in place where the wires for your lights go into the cab.

If none of the aforementioned gets it, you may need to pull the top to check drain tube, check the fittings etc.

Ie pressure washer, I only use mine on tires, wheels if it get really muddy, otherwise a garden hose and not even that often.
