yup they can't just go in and neutralize the threat because if they miss, or a pass-through occurs (likely), another kid can get injured or killed. Attorneys would hang the cop, the entire force, and the rest of the entire United States' LEO's will then be portrayed as even more evil, because of the media and greedy attorneys.
Theres a lot of things that should be different, and can't be because of just this kind of thing, not only are they afraid of getting hurt/killed, they are also afraid of what happens AFTER the event should they make it out alive, for the above reasons
screwed if you do, and screwed if you don't. And frankly, it's a set of issues that have gone long unrecognized by many. So what's the cure? Defund them? Keep attacking them because of a media-driven issue?
And we wonder why there is a shortage of new LEO's to replace the ones who are leaving??
On the other side of it, yes they (officers) should have acted. No doubt about it. Will there be any disciplinary actions? I guess we'll see.
